"I finally understand why you brought so many weapons!..." Li Xuan said helplessly to Kiana, his rifled flintlock firing continuously, mowing down the horde of Honkai Zombies in front of them.
"Ha, haha…" Kiana gave a sheepish laugh, firing her Fairy Bow Silven at the Honkai Zombies swarming them. "Strange, I thought we cleared out most of the zombies last time we were here. How did so many show up again?!..." she muttered to herself.
"Sigh, the Honkai Zombies seem to be getting stronger…" Li Xuan put away his flintlock. Activating the skill 'A Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands,' he sent an elite zombie—far stronger than the common ones—flying with a powerful blow.
"Bronya has calculated based on system analysis… Honkai Zombies will grow stronger over time. It's possible that the strongest among them, a 'Herrscher,' might appear in the future!" Bronya said with a deadpan expression as she mercilessly slaughtered zombies with Project Bunny 19C. After all, Project Bunny could take on a Honkai Beast, though only the smaller ones. It was best to steer clear of the larger ones.
"Ah, no!" Raiden Mei suddenly cried out. Her Yamamoto Night Shadow Katana, having been used too many times, suddenly broke during the fight. After a brief cry of alarm, she quickly calmed down and plunged the remaining broken blade into the next Honkai Zombie.
"Li Xuan!" Mei shouted.
"Alright, got it." Hearing Mei's cry, Li Xuan understood what she needed. He flipped his right hand, and another Yamamoto Night Shadow Katana materialized from his ring. He placed it in Mei's outstretched hand. Mei glanced at the sword that had appeared out of thin air but didn't say anything. After all, everyone has their secrets.
Seriously, three-star weapons are such garbage… When will I ever get a six-star sword or blade? Li Xuan thought as he continued to send Honkai Zombies flying one by one. His Crystal count wasn't very high at the moment. He hadn't expected Kiana to be able to collect Honkai energy as well, which made it harder for him to gather it. As a result, he had only managed to save up a little over a thousand Crystals.
Besides, with Kiana and the others always around, Li Xuan didn't dare to make a Vow casually. Summoning a three-star or four-star weapon would be fine, but if he pulled a five-star divine weapon, the spectacular pillar of light shooting up into the sky would be impossible to explain.
So, Li Xuan planned to wait until he had two thousand Crystals before trying to make a Vow again. That day wasn't far off.
"Huh? What kind of Honkai Zombie is that?!" Li Xuan exclaimed, spotting a unique zombie among the dwindling horde. Mixed in with the others was a giant Honkai Zombie wearing a penguin mascot costume.
"That's a Penguin Honkai Zombie, a rather troublesome type. It has high attack and defense. Bronya usually takes care of them," Mei explained.
"Tch, what a pain," Kiana said impatiently.
"Let me give it a try," Li Xuan said, eager for a challenge. He rolled up his sleeves and charged forward.
"Roar~" The Penguin Zombie let out a furious roar and swung both its hands—or rather, its flippers—down at Li Xuan.
Li Xuan hadn't expected the zombie to be so fast despite its bulky appearance. Caught off guard, he was hit. The transformed Xuanyuan Festive Garb swim trunks still did their job, and a blue shield appeared, blocking the penguin's attack. However, the force of the impact still sent Li Xuan staggering back a few steps.
"Damn it." Annoyed, Li Xuan took out the 'Super Electromagnetic Hand Cannon' from his ring, aimed it at the Penguin Zombie, and the dark muzzle quickly gathered pale white lightning.
"Boom!" A pale white electromagnetic round shot out, hitting the penguin squarely. The hand cannon's 'Paralyze' and 'Power of the Thunder God' skills activated instantly. A charred hole appeared on the penguin's belly, and static electricity crackled across its body as it fell into a paralyzed state.
While the Penguin Zombie was stunned, Kiana and Bronya opened fire simultaneously. The combined assault of Project Bunny's missiles and the Fairy Bow's focused fire finally brought down the special zombie.
With the death of the Penguin Zombie, the remaining Honkai Zombies were slowly but surely finished off by the group.
"Phew~ That was exhausting…" Kiana, despite her years at a prestigious academy for young ladies, seemed to have forgotten all her etiquette. She collapsed onto the ground, completely still, without a care in the world for a lady's decorum.
"Let's go in," Mei said, raising her katana. With a flash of white light, she tore a person-sized hole in the chain-link fence.
"Whoooa!! The ocean!" Kiana, resurrected in a second, dashed through the opening.
