The day had started very clear and bright, but Evelyn still felt down from the previous night. She hadn't slept very much and every time she tried to sleep, she would picture the rock that was thrown at her, she would recall the pack's mean looks, and all their doubting words. But with the pain of those memories came along Damien's strong message, "You cannot hide behind me forever".
When she got up, she didn't ask Lucy for help getting ready, instead she carefully washed and dressed herself, moving slowly but seemingly with a purpose, as if she were putting on not just her clothes but also her determination. She picked a simple dark green dress, one that flowed slenderly down her body, but still let her move quite easily. She braced her hair tightly so it would show her face. Today she wouldn't hide behind any fancy clothes or shadows.
