The moon was up high, hovering above the pack's home, like a dome sending its dim light over the big property. Evelyn walked all by herself on the rocky road, and the cool night air flowed all around her skin. Following the hard things that happened that day in the meeting room and the tough choice she had made about Maria and Anna, her brain needed a break. Her steps were quiet and silent; it was as if the night itself was asking for her focus.
