Lucerys was saved by an unknown rider with a Red Dragon that no one had ever seen before. The man brought the injured Luke to Queen Rhaenyra, but when he met Prince Daemon and clarified his little history, he stiffened and tried to run away. For he may have connections to himself. Rhaenyra had to pry further to know who this person this mysterious rider and his red dragon were, trying to find out if he will aid her war or cause destruction. Furthermore, why will he help her war?

Notes:

I feel like I'm cheating my other fics for not finishing my other fics. But this story has been in my head, and I just need to type it. I was thinking this should just be a one-shot, but I'm not certain.

Let me know what you think!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

"Soves, Arrax!!" Luke desperately shouted under the hard rain. Trying to flee from Vhagar.

His Dragon finally obeyed his commands and flew higher into the skies and above the clouds until no rain can reach them.

The sky is open, and they can hide in the clouds. But the clouds are the same as fog, he could not see Vhagar nor hear her.

That's when the old dragon appeared out of nowhere, unbeknownst to Luke.

He would've been killed there and then if it weren't for another dragon that showed up, charging at her. Vhagar roared in pain and snapped her jaws in the process at whoever attacked her.

But Vhagara's jaws managed to catch Arrax's wing and Luke's left foot. Luke screamed in pain and before he knew it, he is falling. Blood is flying in the air, his dragon is torn to death in one snap.

And he too will follow. He's not ready to die yet, he is frightened and surprised by all these commotions.

Just before he plunged to his death, something caught him.

No, someone.

This person caught his chest, breaking his fall. Soon enough, he's flying up again. Is Arrax alive?

"Are you alright?" the man who held him tightly asked.

He shook his head vigorously, "My feet…" He cannot feel it anymore, only the blood draining from him and the pain in his leg.

"Hold on," he adjusted him to lie on his stomach, "Where are you from? I'll take you there! Is there someone I should know to tell them about you?"

"Dragonstone," he babbled without his mind thinking clearly, he only answered because he is questioned, "My Mother....Rhaenyra…." Then, his consciousness faded away.

"Alright, I'll take you there," the unknown rider said, "Adhirikydho, Angelus. Gō pōnta find īlva (Quickly, Angelus. Before they find us)."

The dragon roared and zoomed towards their destination, leaving no traces behind.

"Ironic isn't it?" Aeron heard Angelus's talk in his mind, her deep maternal voice loud and clear, " You swore that you will have nothing to do with the Targaryens, and yet here we are?"

The young man snorted in annoyance as he adjusted the fainted boy in front of him, his silver and white hair flowing along with the wind, " I didn't do this for the Targaryens," he said.

"Then what?" The Red Dragon growled, "By having me save the child of Rhaenyra Targaryen is a sign that you will have to face the Targaryen Princess herself, perhaps even swear allegiance to her."

"You saved me yourself when I wandered far in Old Valyria, facing some stone men, and now you are bound to me," he countered, "How is my situation different than we have now."

"A fair judgment," Angelus snorted, flapping her wings, "Or, you can release the boy now. And we are free to do as we like."

Aeron could've let this boy go, drop him from a thousand miles up from the sky, and be done with it. Fuck the Targaryens and their conquest for a dynasty. It was the reason why he was orphaned to begin wtih, maybe she doesn't remember that she has a child, to begin with. Abandoning him to the House of Black and White, turning him into an assassin. But was tortured, lost, and alone.

Until Melisandre came to save him, raised him, and introduced him to Angelus.

And now, Angelus is the only family he has left when that Red Priestess disappeared. With the Red Dragon by his side, he was able to fight for his home.

And this fainted boy in front of him, he can't help but feel that he should help him.

And he did.

He shook his head, "I had to help him," he said, "It's pathetic that a large dragon would prey on a small dragon. It must be from his rider, he lusts for power."

"You are learning," Angelus chuckled deeply, "Jealousy, hatred, treachery….sounds like a typical human story. But then again, this boy has nothing to do with us."

Aeron said nothing of this, for he knows that her words hold the truth, "Alright, let's head to Dragonstone. His mother may be looking for him now."

"Hold on tight, my boy. I'd hate to waste time picking you up if you fall," Angelus roared and picked up her speed. The Red Dragon vanished in a flash, if Vhagar was there, she won't be able to catch up with her.

Rhaenyra heard an unfamiliar roar, and everyone did. It stopped their meeting and chattering in the council.

"That's no dragon of ours," her husband muttered.

"Nor was it one of Alicent's dragons," she added. She has been with the Dragons in King's Landing, and none of them gave out this kind of roar. It was savage and strong. What dragon could have given this roar?

Ser Erryk strides to the great table in a rush, his face looking frantic, "Your Grace," he said, "An unknown rider just landed here. In Dragonstone."

Rhaenyra furrowed her brow, "What does he want?"

He shook his head, "He came here with Prince Lucerys, injured and unconscious."

At the mention of her son, she rushed out of the council room, "Where are they?" she can hear Daemon following by her side.

"They are coming this way, but with difficulty. For the Prince lost his ankle," he informed her.

"No," she muttered with so much anxiety and panic, her heart could sink to the bottom of the ocean, "No, no no." I can't lose my child, I have already lost one. And she quickly strides out the room to follow her guards.

When she got out of the castle, she was greeted with an unusual sight.

There, in the hills, is a red dragon. Probably the size of Syrax, but bigger. Its yellow horns gleamed under the sunset, and its yellow eyes observed everyone. Including her.

Just in front of the dragon are people gathering, circling something. No….. someone.

"Luke!" she cried and ran to find her son.

The guards heard her and some began dispersing away from Luke, and when they did, she finally saw the unknown rider. His white and silver hair differentiates him from the rest, and his light armor and tunic are something not from Westeros, covered by his small hood cape.

But she paid him no mind, for only her son is her priority. His face is in pain, the same face he made when she caught him having a nightmare, "Oh Gods, Luke!"

"Your Grace," one of the guards opened his mouth, "The Prince is in need of attention."

The unknown rider began to back away as Rhaenyra kneeled beside Luke, "Luke, my son. Are you alright?" she heard him groan, and she sighed in relief that he is still alive. Some of the guards were helping with whatever injuries the young prince went through. There are blood stains on his hands and cape. And she found the source where the blood is coming out…..his missing foot.

Anger boiled in her, and she quickly turned to the unknown rider, standing up tall, "You!"

"He was attacked," he defended himself with a foreign accent. She quickly realized that he doesn't seem to be from Westeros either, "We were passing by when another dragon went after him."

"How do we know that it wasn't you," Daemon came forward beside her, sharing the same anger.

"No, he's right," Luke grunted in pain, lifting himself off the ground. Some of the Maesters arrived with all the necessary items to aid her son, his brother and betrothed also arrived to help get him up, "Vhagar attacked me, and he came in just in time to save me. But Arrax is killed."

To say that she is shocked is an understatement, "Who are you? And why did you save my son?"

"More importantly, how is it that you are with a dragon," Daemon asked as he looked at the red dragon, who stared at the scene before it, "I have never seen your dragons passing by here before. Are you a Targaryen?"

"We are not from Westeros if that's what you're asking," the unknown rider said, "We came from Essos."

"And why are you here from Essos?" Daemon asked again.

"A man has their business," he countered, "Is it wrong?"

Rhaenyra blinked at his boldness to speak directly, for her husband has an ill temper too when challenged, "No," the tone of his voice dropped several octaves lower, "When one has a dragon, everything is a threat to us. Especially in times like this."

The Red Dragon growled at his remark, thumping its way until it was near his rider. The rest of the guards backed away slowly, but they still stood close to the Queen in hopes of protecting her should the dragon decide to attack her or her family. The Queen did not flinch, nor did her husband. The children stood frozen at the sight of the foreign dragon.

"Lyks, Angelus (Peace, Angelus)," the rider turned to his dragon, "Iksi daor kesīr naejot vīlībagon (We are not here to fight)." The dragon seemed to obey and puffed a stream of smoke from its nostrils, its eyes still observing everyone like a predator.

Not long later, the other dragons arrived, circling above them. Syrax landed first behind her rider and watched the Red Dragon closely, growling at her. But the Red Dragon isn't intimidated by her threats either, merely looking at her while keeping its own rider close.

"Right," the rider cleared his throat, "If there isn't anything we must discuss, I suppose we can call it a day and we can all return to our own business."

"No," Rhaenyra immediately said, for she had another plan with this man. Now that Luke does not have a rider, perhaps this man could be a formidable ally, "I have an offer to make…."

"I want nothing to do with you all," he immediately said, which was his first mistake. Now, she's suspicious of his intention.

"Watch your tongue, boy," Daemon threatens him, "You are in the presence of Queen Rhaenyra, rightful heir to the Iron Throne."

The young man opened his mouth and closed it, opening his palms, "My apologies, Your Grace."

This man clearly has not been with around royalties, and it reminds her of her own husband's attitude decades ago. She shook her head, "You saved my son, the least I can do is thank the man who rescued him."

"Thank you is more than enough for me," he said, "You need not worry."

"What's the hurry?" Daemon asked smugly, and he could tell that it irritated the man, "Forgive me for my suspicions but, as I said before, we are in tough times. My wife's claim to her throne is sabotaged, and war is coming. So, we must know whose side you are on and why you are here in Westeros."

The unknown rider furrowed his brows, he turned back to his dragon and back at her. He didn't say anything yet, but eventually, he sighed, "And once I'm clear, you'll let me go, right?"

"We'll see," Rhaenyra said. She turned to her guards and said, "Escort him inside, Ser Erryk."

The loyal guard of hers nodded, he nod to the other guard beside him and they both went to his sides.

The unknown rider seems calm about all this, he turned to his dragon as if having a silent conversation. After that, the Red Dragon spread its wings and took off to the skies, still watching them close.

"What do you intend to do with him, Rhaenyra?" Daemon whispered in her ear.

"I want to know his motives," she said, "And if possible, I want him to join us in this fight."

"Fair enough," he said, "I'll keep an eye on him."

"Thank you, dear husband."

"State your name and business," Queen Rhaenyra asked.

The whole council awaits for his words, all eyes are on him, making him extremely uncomfortable. For he has never been graced upon the attention of people who are royalties, surely they would interrogate him a lot more, and if his messengers are correct, they are a constant headache.

May as well get over with it anyway.

"My name is Aeron of Braavos," Aeron answered calmly as he clasped his hands behind his back, "I came here to find a woman by the name of Mysaria."

"Mysaria?" Prince Daemon asked as he stood in front of the fireplace, "She's a whore."

"And my mother," he added, may as well be truthful. What business would they want anyway with a whore's son? They'd dismiss him for sure, "I came here to find her."

Before Queen Rhaenyra could ask another question, Prince Daemon came up beside her, "How old are you, boy?"

"8 and 10," he answered casually, "Why? Do I look older?"

Prince Daemon did not say anything, merely looked at him with curiosity. His vanished brows kneaded, and eyes squinting. What's this man's problem?

"My love?" Queen Rhaenyra asked her husband, "What's wrong?" But Prince Daemon did not say anything, rather looking at him with disbelief.

And suddenly, a sudden realization came to him.

You are special, Aeron. For you are more than just a bastard, but the bastard with the blood of the Dragon.

"I sense something with this family," he recalled Angelus's last words to him before coming up to this castle, "as if they have something in common with you."

No, no, no, no, no!! NO NO NO!!!

Without a second thought, Aeron dashed back and ran away from the council and out of the room, shoving the others out of his way.

"SOMEONE STOP HIM!" he heard someone yell.

Aeron began to panic when he heard a stampede of footsteps coming after him at his back and front. So much for letting them know that he's the son of a whore.

He was about to reach the exit when a bunch of soldiers appeared from the doors. Swords ready.

Aeron cursed, and he banked to the stairs that led him up. He hopes he can find a balcony to climb out, "ANGELUS!!"

He ran along the hall and there it was, a wide open room where he could jump. Angelus's roar is loud and clear, she is nearby. Good.

He climbed the battlements and leapt into the air, falling down the castle. He dove down in a star position, awaiting his dragon.

In an instant, the flap of wings came and Angelus dived down for him before he could fall to his doom. Angelus managed to fly faster, her neck is right in front of him and he caught her spikes and pulled himself closer to her.

When Angelus felt his firm grip on her spikes, she adjusted her wings and flew in a U-shape, bringing them up to the skies and away from the castle.

"What's all the fuss, my boy," Angelus asked through their connected minds, "What have you done?"

"Angelus, I can't stay here anymore," he shouted, no longer speaking through his mind, "I want nothing to do with them! We have to fly. Fly far away."

"I wasn't planning on eloping with you just yet. But, I suppose now is as good a time as ever," The Red Dragon rumbled, "I did warn you this would happen."

"I'm not a child anymore," Aeron barked.

"Very well, hang on. We'll fly out." Angelus flapped again to elevate them higher to the skies.

Only to be charged down by something.

No, someone. Another Dragon!

Aeron nearly toppled from his dragon's back but managed to hold on, they were about to fall. When he looked ahead, he saw Angelus grappling with a snake-like orange dragon. Struggling in the skies, and roaring at each other.

"Angelus!!" He shouted. This dragon must have been one of their dragons. It is more slender than Angelus, but it is definitely strong, curling itself easily around her.

She could not hear him, for she was occupied by the dragon grabbing her shoulders. They will all fall to their deaths if Angelus won't do something.

But his red dragon did. She managed to manoeuvre her movements by spreading her wings and flapping and snapping her jaws. This forced the dragon to release her.

But in doing so, Angelus did not notice how fast they were about to fall on the hills of Dragonstone. "Hold on tight, my boy!" The young man obeyed and gripped her scales firmly.

Angelus managed to land on a steep hill and crashed landed downwind and down the hill, breaking their impact. She used her talons to stop her from toppling off the ground and falling further to the cliffs.

But Aeron couldn't hold onto his grip and he fell off his dragon's back, and down to the ground. The young man groaned in pain, shaking his head before getting up. "Angelus!!" he shouted, he found his dragon recovering from her fall too.

He tried to run, tumbling a little from the earlier impact and quickly trying to get to his dragon.

But then, other dragons began to follow shortly. The Wyrm dragon is joined by another three dragons, gliding towards them.

"Come to me, my boy," she shouted in her mind desperately for him.

Aeron could not reach her as the dragons arrived, landing right in front of him and stopping him from reaching Angelus. Aeron had to stop before he got any closer to the golden dragon looking straight at him, it started to bare its teeth.

Angelus tried to get to him, but the other two dragons were preventing her from getting any closer to him.

"Get him!" he heard the shouts behind him and he turned back. Soldiers are gathering around them.

They are caught.

There is no escaping the den of the Dragons.

Rhaenyra half-expected that Daemon would chase after the unknown rider just as the rest would do. But instead, he froze where he stood. His face also did not change, the look of disbelief.

"My love," she gently called her husband, running her hand to his arm, "What is troubling you?" she pulled him to sit on a chair to the wall. It's a good thing everyone left, and Luke is taken by the maesters as they tend to his wounds, for he seems ready to speak now.

"19 years," he said in a soft voice.

She cocked her head in confusion, "What do you mean?"

"That was the last time I saw Mysaria before I sent her away," he answered, his eyes finally searching for her. Rhaenyra can see the look of horror in his violet eyes, "By the gods, she was pregnant."

Now, she began to realize this revelation. "Don't tell me…"

He nodded nervously, "That boy," he began, "is my son."
