Bennett's tense expression softened, the worry lines around his eyes smoothing out. "Oh. That makes sense then."
Kimi nodded, her gaze drifting away from his face. She caught her bottom lip between her teeth, the words she needed to say tangled up inside her throat like barbed wire.
She felt the warmth of his fingers as they found hers. Bennett's hand enveloped hers completely, his thumb tracing gentle circles across her knuckles.
