Kimi drew a steadying breath before meeting Kolton's intense stare.

From their seats nearby, Olive and Rylie had caught every word of their exchange. They shot Kimi questioning looks, but she subtly shook her head, silently communicating her desire to keep Kolton in the dark about the previous night's events.
Kolton retreated into silence, his attention seemingly fixed on the professor's presentation flickering across the projector screen.
