"What… What are you?" Alice asked, her eyes still staring at the creature that stood right next to her.
Vlad, the now six-legged monster, distorted from reality, as if he was nothing.
Bending space and becoming red mist, becoming human, or to most, what seemed to be.
His appearance had now returned to normal.
"I didn't kill them," Vlad said, moving his eyes and looking at the sleeping naked men who were once giant beasts, unmoving, expressionless, and lacking consciousness.
But Alice's face remained unchanged. Her expression was still stone, and her words kept unshaken.
"Vlad, you shifted," she continued, "like them." Her eyes drifted to the cloth-less monsters of wolves that had now turned human, their bodies still embraced by the darkened ground.
Her expression was affected, and her body slightly shivering, even if it seemed unseen.
Vlad still noticed.
"What?" he asked as he noticed her. "Why do you seem scared?" he frowned. "Do I scare you?"
Alice quickly dashed to his front, arriving in what seemed to be a fraction of a second.
Her hands now lifted, holding up his jaw and caressing his cheeks.
And his heart, as if taken aback, released its deepest beat.
Then she kissed him.
Never in his life had he felt the emotions he was feeling in that exact instant.
It was simply foreign.
Not even Emma—his foster mother—had given him such emotion.
With just a kiss came instant release.
The thoughts that once filled his mind, questioning his fate,
the loneliness he would feel, the pain he experienced, the hurt, force, hate, struggle, guilt.
All gone.
Lost because of a single kiss.
A cold, softened kiss.
One he had already experienced.
It was not the first time she had kissed him that day.
But for some reason, the kiss felt different.
It was soft, far softer than Vlad could have expected.
It was gentle, but the strength it produced would be bone-crushing to the human skull.
And it was intimate, far more tempting than one would expect.
Pulling back from their interlocked lips, Alice looked at him straight in the eyes, as if in search of some kind of depth.
"I don't fear you," she said, still holding a serious expression, not smiling, not grinning, just serious.
"Alice, I am a vampire," he answered, "a vampire."

In a secluded forest surrounded by nothing but trees, Vlad Dracul sat alone, watching as the stars moved deep through the cosmos of the universe.
As he lowered his gaze, his eyesight caught a glimpse of a short-standing figure who was approaching where he was seated.
It was Alice.
And on her expression, unashamed by its show, was a widely opened smile.
Even if she was nearing, she did not seem in a rush or in any kind of worry.
Then in minutes, ones that proved too exhausting to count, Alice arrived.
"They took care of it," she said, sighing loudly with her uncontrolled fake breaths, "but…" she frowned with her hesitation.
And Vlad raised a brow.
"They want to meet you," she said as she sat near him, sliding to the side and moving closer.
Vlad felt nervous as he saw her unfading grin.
"Did they send them back?" he questioned, and she nodded at his words.
"Then no?" She was stunned after he spoke.
"No?" she asked, unsure of whether she heard him right.
Then he sighed, which only shook her.
"Why?" she questioned, "wait… why?" Hesitation grew void.
"Yeah, I don't know," he replied, leaning downward to balance his upper body with his legs.
Opening his lips to say something else, his tongue obstructed his speech, as his mouth quickly shut with the same speed it used to open.
Nothing but the everlasting skill to hesitate silenced him.
He remembered the demon who took everything.
Its laughs, its taunts, and its fallen head.
He did not believe he could truly face the reflection of what he had become, facing the corpses that reminded him so much of him, who took everything.
"I just…" his hesitation still lingered. He turned his head, placed his gaze on her wondering eyes, and smiled at her bewildered expression. "So, you guys really call yourselves 'vampires'?" he changed the topic.
Alice was not stupid, so she noticed how he reacted to the words she had spoken.
So, she ignored the change, perhaps realizing that it was not her place to interfere.
"Yep," Alice said, moving her gaze to the sky, noticing how it was growing lighter, something which for a human would seem impossible to perceive. "We don't know who started it, since those who changed us were as clueless as we were," she continued, which only caused Vlad to be stunned in thought, thinking about the history they never knew, the history he had seen, that he was told.
He had once been told by Alucard about the secrets of where his powers came from, the secrets of powers forbidden by the heavens, its core, its root, and mystery, ones which began with a common, mysterious event, a truth never told, but inherited through memories.
Memories that Alucard was once a dying man.
