Miranda's POV
The door creaked open, and I sat up immediately. Not like I was doing anything wrong, but for some reason, I felt nervous.
It wasn't him. I hadn't seen him since last night, and I couldn't help but wonder if what he had told me—the promise he had made—had all been lies.
But there's no need for him to lie to me.
"Yes?" The wide-eyed girl turned to me, and that was when I noticed that she was setting a tray of food.
"Nothing," I said quickly, realizing that I had voiced out my thoughts. "Who are you?"
"Lucy. The Alpha instructed me to bring you a meal," she set the food in front of me carefully.
I furrowed my brows. I knew most of the maids, but not this one.
Alpha Colton told me that I had been out for twenty-five days. Perhaps a lot had happened since then.
The only person who could tell me everything was Emily, my best and only friend, and I hadn't seen her since I woke up. My heart clenched tightly at that.
"Where's Emily?"
