Three Weeks Later
POV - Chaos
Finally... a little bit of rest...it has been exhausting so far, and there's still five months to go! Thankfully, tomorrow was Kyas' full moon and apology, and I get the night OFF! I have a whole new reason to like the moon...
Wait... I perk my ears... is that..? Alpha! He's coming. Maybe if I hurry, I can get out of sight. I know I agreed to this, but geez!
I scramble up and run out of the hall the other way.
'Chaos, HEEL.' Alpha commands.
Awww, man... stupid pack link. I book it to heel before the bee stings get me. I should be used to them by now, immune as many times as they did get me, many times on purpose, but nope, still as nasty every time.
I saw Elias, washing down tables, watching us go outside in the early sunset.
Save me Elias, you loved me once, right? Right?? Eww, his bond color went puke green. Was he seriously jealous?? Take it! Here! Have my spot! If you'd just unblock us, I'd sell you this "honored" attention better than Tom Sawyer!
'Good evening, Chaos.' Alpha said.
'Good evening, Alpha.' I said.
'Ready for another round?' He asked.
'Nope.' I sulked.
'Good!' He smiled.
I should hate him. Shouldn't I hate him? I probably will hate him. Maybe tomorrow.
We walked toward the glade, where a group of pups waited. Lovely, children's night in the glade, let's play with puppy.
"Hello, my lovelies," Alpha addressed the children, "did you come to play with Chaos?"
The children nodded or said yes. Their bonds pulsed when he called them his "lovelies", ugh, my Achilles heel, he's gonna sprain it, I'll be laid up for days.
"Will he really do what we say?" Daniel asked.
"Uh-huh," Alpha said, "just tell me what you want him to do, and I'll make him do it, BUT, we can't hurt him. This is how Chaos says he's sorry for tricking his alpha. We can't hurt someone when they are saying sorry, Ok?"
"Ok, Alpha." They said in chorus.
"Everyone line up, youngest to oldest." He instructed.
"Good, where shall we set him to start?" Alpha asked.
"Riiiiiggggtttt....here!" Said Caleb as he tapped his foot in the grass.
"Chaos, GO." Alpha said.
I moved to Caleb, slipping in a face wash as I passed him. We sure do love it when they giggle.
"Ok, what should he do?" he asked Katie.
"Uuuummm, Sit Pretty, Summersault, and backflip." She said.
Alpha commanded, I obeyed. And it begins. These kids are creative. Chase the tail, high five, bow, bark at a rock, fetch - lots of fetch, Frisbee, go-find-it.
Andy stepped up at his turn. I already knew this was gonna hurt. Andy knows the loophole in the rules.
"Make him mean." Andy said.
"Chaos, BARE." I pulled my lip off my canines.
"Worse." Andy said.
"Chaos, SNARL." I wrinkled my lips, exposing all my teeth.
"Even Worse. " Andy said .
"Chaos, MENACE. " Full hard wrinkle, salivating, ears back, growl and snap.
And there it was, exactly what he knew would happen. A flash of fear on Katie's bond, a whimper from her throat. Beestings be damned.
I soft muzzled, getting the beestings because I should be at menace. I hurried over to her, more intense, because I should be where Caleb put me.
I nuzzled Katie. No, sweetheart, don't be scared, Chaos is a good puppy. I wash her face until she giggles, intense beestings everywhere. I cuddle her until I can't take anymore and return to the spot on the grass. I do not return to menace. I never do. I silently endure them, no matter how intense they get until Alpha moves to the next command.
It's not a challenge, I don't eye Alpha, I don't square off, I'm respectful, I just care about her more than I hate the beestings. I won't scare her again.
Different pups come on children's night, never the same group, but Andy always comes. Sometimes the young ones get scared, sometimes they don't.
"Chaos, DOWN." I drop. Ah! Small mercies.
"Katie, come here." Alpha called, she came over. "Did Chaos scare you?" He asked.
"Uh-huh." She said in a small voice.
Alpha hugged her. Their bond pulsed with warm, safe, comfort colors. Melting here... stop it.
"I know, wolves can be scary, but..." he said.
'Alpha, no, please!' I begged.
'QUIET.'
"Chaos has a secret. Gather around, and I'll tell you.." Alpha said.
Andy's got that look. I'm dead.
"Chaos, BELLY UP."
No, body, no, don't do it! Treacherous traitor thing!
The pups have gone feral, they've hunted me down, ready to pounce. I am Totally going to hate Alpha tomorrow.
"I'm not gonna make him do it, you have to find the right spot." Alpha said.
"Get im." He set them on me. I'm helpless!
They all descended on me, claws out scratching my underside, trying to find it, but Andy knows where it is. It's under my armpit. He goes for it, the jugular. Andy scratches under my armpit and I can't take it, my back foot starts kicking, and a full throated howl breaks loose. The pups dissolve into giggles.
Kyas full out laughing behind the barrier.
Shut up, it's not funny.
I hear laughter around the glade.
Kyas! You didn't!
I can't ask him, but he knows the question.
'I SO did, the whole thing.' Kyas said.
Alpha claps his hands. "Good Job, pups! You found it. Ok, run on home pups, I think Chaos has had enough."
I focus and the bond colors come fully into view. I'm with Kyas. They're beautiful.
"Chaos, OFFICE." I flip over and run for it.
He comes in a few minutes later. He sits on the sofa under the windows.
"You ready for tomorrow?" He asks and removes the quiet command.
'You mean my lovely day OFF?? I'm blocking Everybody! Kyas is freaking out though.' I tell him.
"He is?" Alpha asks.
'Oh, yeah, he's totally gonna tank tomorrow. ' I say.
'You know I can hear you, right?' Kyas says.
'Yep.' I say.
'Not. Help-ping...' Kyas retorts.
"Kyas, how's your color collection coming?" Alpha asks.
'Papa...no words...' Kyas responds.
'Alpha? Are we going to do Commanded runs the whole six months?' I ask.
"No, Chaos, I hope not. I'm waiting for the pack to tell me to stop. This is for them more than me. Maybe they'll grant mercy after Kyas says he's sorry." Alpha answers.
'Ok.' I say.
"Chaos, COME." Alpha calls.
I hop up and lay on his lap, and get the tingles, and then he scratches behind my ears.
Goddess, I love this guy.
