Chapter 13 - Testing Misery`s limits

Not paying further attention to the dead goblin, Zarek sliced the goblin's neck—a head rolling on the ground.

Zarek looked at Misery's actions from the corner of his eye and could only forcefully smile.

Just then his expression flickered as a notification rang in his head.

At the same time, the goblin which Misery was dealing with fell to the ground, its face beaten to a meat paste.

Misery's leather armor was dyed completely red, blood flowing down his hands and falling to the ground.

He scanned the remaining goblins with a wicked look in his eyes, a twisted smile on Misery's features.

"F-fun," a broken word came out of the summon's mouth.

Watching this scene, Zarek's smile stiffened.

A single thought appeared in his mind: Thankfully, Misery is on my side.

However, before he could continue thinking, the goblins had come out of their shocked state and charged, a furious glint in their eyes.

Misery's actions seemed to have hit their sore spot, rage clouding their minds.

Meanwhile, there was nothing to be said—the opponents were equally divided.

Misery was to face the four goblins to the right, and Zarek the four to the left.

Or so he had thought, but the four monsters that were on his side ignored Zarek and rushed toward Misery.

All intending to gang up on the poor creature—how could Zarek allow that?

Just as he was about to rush to Misery's rescue, the whiteness in Zarek's eyes flickered and his steps came to a sudden halt.

Why not use this opportunity to see just how far Misery could go?

Although they had fought multiple life-and-death battles, he had yet to see Misery being pushed to his absolute limits.

Then Zarek did something which others might consider total betrayal.

He watched the eight goblins surround Misery in a circle. Zarek's expression didn't change; he didn't feel bad for Misery. There was only coldness in his eyes.

Misery cackled loudly, scanning the figure of each goblin, seemingly imprinting them into his memory for eternity.

"Come... fun."

While speaking something gibberish, he threw his fist dyed in blood toward the nearest goblin.

Zarek watched the exchange with rapt attention. Although Misery was able to overpower one of his opponents, there was no way he could stop the remaining seven goblins from getting close to him.

And indeed, as he expected, as the fight progressed, Misery started to lose his edge, multiple cuts appearing on the leather armor protecting his figure.

Witnessing this scene, Zarek now had an idea about Misery's strength.

Although the situation was not in his favor, he did not lose his cool. Instead, he summoned Misery's status window.

[First Sequence Summon – Misery]

After multiple life-and-death battles, the amount of infinite origin that Misery had managed to accumulate had grown to twenty-five.

From his past experience in raising Misery's stats, he wasn't in a hurry to raise the stats, but now was the perfect time.

He threw a glance in Misery's direction to see how he was faring before raising the stats.

The poor fellow was pinned down by three goblins, unable to move. Even in this situation, Misery was able to throw fierce punches to keep the other goblins at bay.

The situation wasn't looking good for Misery. With passing time, the speed of his attacks was slowing down—he was evidently getting tired. If nothing changed, the eight goblins were surely bound to overwhelm him.

Thinking up to this point, his lips curled upward.

Little Misery, show them what you're made of.

Zarek thought as he pressed the plus button beside strength. He was barely able to tap twice and twenty points vanished in the blink of an eye. When he tried to press the third time, a warning hit him:

Not enough infinite origin!

He looked at the warning and realized it appeared that if he wanted to increase Misery's stats, at least ten points of infinite origin was needed.

Thinking up to this point, he turned his gaze back to Misery to witness the changes firsthand.

An intense green glow was perfectly reflected in his white pupils.

As soon as Zarek had increased Misery's strength, shocking changes started to take place. Intense green light erupted from deep within his heart, covering Misery's entire figure instantly. The muscles in Misery's body seemed to have destroyed and regrown again—this process happened multiple times in the blink of an eye.

Then the light vanished as quickly and abruptly as it had come, but something had changed.

Not only could Zarek feel it, but the goblins surrounding could feel the same.

Misery raised his head upward and roared, its voice heavy and terrifying like a beast that had awakened from a long slumber.

The goblins surrounding him were stunned, forgetting to react for a moment.

Then—boom!

With a sudden motion, Misery sent the three goblins holding him back flying. Now finally free, he didn't waste any time and lunged toward the nearest goblin which a moment ago was trying to punch him.

The goblin barely blinked when Misery's punch was on its face, sending teeth flying out of its mouth.

As soon as the punch connected, the goblin was sent flying, its throat bent at an unnatural angle.

The situation reversed in an instant.

Meanwhile, Zarek, watching from the sidelines, exclaimed in amazement:

Just two points increased in strength could change the situation so much.

His jaw automatically hung open.

Then his gaze inadvertently moved to his own unassigned points that he had gotten from his level.

[Unassigned Points - 5]

If I put all five of them into strength, how much will my strength increase then?
