(The story starts a few years ago. To be honest, you should go to the cinema and watch it yourself. I'm really a sight in this movie! Okay, I won't ramble on. I'll leave it to the author.)
Eight years ago, 616 main universe, sacred timeline
"Please, give me a chance. I really want to join the Avengers, save the world with them, and maybe grab a gourmet burger." Deadpool was dressed to impress today. He'd picked out a sharp, tailored suit and paired it with polished leather shoes, hoping to nail this life-changing interview.
A few months ago, his girlfriend Vanessa had felt uneasy about their unstable lifestyle, so at her urging, he now shared an apartment with Blind Al, a sharp-tongued woman in her sixties.
Truth be told, his superhero gig was rough. For the sake of a better life and his future with Vanessa, Deadpool decided to get a real job.
The ultimate dream for any superhero? The Avengers. Joining them meant official backing, a steady paycheck, and, most importantly, stability.
So Deadpool showed up at the Avengers Tower for an interview.
Things weren't going smoothly, though. Tony Stark's driver, Happy Hogan, didn't seem to take a shine to Deadpool.
Now the Minister of the Avengers' Security Department, Happy wasn't easily swayed.
Facing Deadpool's plea, Happy asked sternly, "Do you have any experience in teamwork?"
Happy had seen his share of rogue superheroes lately and was practically immune to their pitches. Every wannabe with a power thought they could waltz into the Avengers, the hottest superhero brand around.
Happy paused, choosing his words carefully. He knew their weight: "You know, every mission we undertake is a tightrope walk between life and death. Every decision could determine the team's fate. Teamwork isn't just a resume bullet—it's a predictor of future success."
Deadpool replied calmly, "Oh, sure. I once put together X-Force, but, uh, everyone else kinda died, leaving just me." His confidence faded as he spoke.
You couldn't really blame him. Who'd have guessed his team would wipe out in a single skydiving fiasco?
He glanced around. The office was like a mini superhero museum, each display steeped in legend: Captain America's shield, Iron Man's helmet, and other heroic relics.
It fueled Deadpool's longing. He dreamed of joining the Avengers and one day being as iconic as these heroes.
Happy clearly wasn't impressed with Deadpool's track record. If this guy joined, would the rest of the team end up as collateral damage?
Seeing Happy's skeptical look, Deadpool quickly added, "I want to join the Avengers for the one I love."
Happy didn't shut him down outright. Instead, he offered, "Why do you need the Avengers to be a hero? Plenty of people make the team succeed from behind the scenes. Like me, supporting the heroes."
"And your powers? Honestly, they're pretty standard."
Deadpool couldn't fathom how this guy became head of security. Just because he was Tony's driver? Nepotism much?
Deadpool shot back, "What's your superpower, parallel parking?"
Happy brushed off the jab. He was used to dealing with Tony's quips and the egos of powered folks.
He stood, gave Deadpool a quick pat, and ushered him toward the door.
Then, with a shove, Deadpool was out. Bang! The door slammed shut, the sound echoing down the empty corridor.
"We'll let you know if there's a decision!"
Deadpool stared at the heavy door, crestfallen. He knew he'd been rejected.
It left him deflated.
It even made him consider hanging up his katanas for good.
(Deadpool is toast! You nailed it, idol!)
. . . . . . . . . .
Eight years later (a few days ago)
Deadpool, once the wild and unhinged Merc with a Mouth, had quietly ditched his red suit for a civilian life.
Thanks to his friend Peter Wisdom, he'd landed a gig as a salesman at a rundown used car lot in Hell's Kitchen.
Each day, he donned his signature wig and moved between cars, pitching sales. He missed the thrill of his old adventures sometimes, but this steady life meant more to him now.
His paycheck was small, and his sales numbers were average, but Deadpool stayed upbeat.
After finishing his shift, Deadpool swapped his work clothes for casual gear and headed to his apartment. The hallway was silent, save for his footsteps.
But his sixth sense picked up something off, and years of combat instincts kicked in. He slowed, approaching his door cautiously, ready for anything.
Suddenly, warm light spilled from the apartment. The door creaked open, revealing familiar faces. They held ribbons, grinning wide, and shouted, "Happy Birthday!" Today was Deadpool's birthday, and his friends had planned a surprise party.
Deadpool froze, then broke into a relieved grin. His paranoia had been for nothing.
These were his closest allies: Peter Wisdom, Buck, Blind Al, Shatterstar, Ellie Phimister, his girlfriend Yukio, and even his ex, Vanessa Carlysle.
They were the few who stuck by him, no matter what.
The party was filled with laughter, shared stories, and memories of past exploits. Deadpool sometimes thought this kind of life might just be enough.
But the vibe shifted abruptly.
Bang bang bang. A knock at the door. Deadpool opened it to find a heavily armed figure staring him down.
"Hey, buddy, here for my birthday bash? Don't think we've met!"
"No, Wade Wilson, you're under arrest!"
