Elena's POV
I arrived at work earlier than usual today, something about this new routine felt oddly grounding. I'd never thought of a cold skyscraper with tinted windows and endless marble flooring, sitting so close to my cruel contracted husband as a sanctuary, but in some strange way, the office was starting to feel like mine too.
Not because of the title on the door or the view from my office window. But because I was finally doing something I chose, something my heart yearned for, I would be forever grateful to Justin for this opportunity.
I walked past the glass walls of Justin's office, careful not to glance inside. But I felt it. That soft heat against my skin, the weight of his gaze. He was watching me.
I kept my back straight as I pushed open the door to my office and sank into the soft leather chair behind my desk. I took a deep breath, allowing the calm to settle over me before the storm of work began.
