Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Side Quest?

Lucan thought for a second before saying, "You two will not be selling each other. As for the problem of money, it is solved."

Nors, Cedric, and the others all thought the same thing as they looked at Lucan. 'How is the money problem solved?'

With that, Lucan gestured with his hands, and a bag of gold coins and a brick of gold appeared in front of them. They first looked at each other, rubbed their eyes, and then saw that it was not a dream or an illusion.

"Lord, you can also make gold coins appear here? Then we won't have any problem with money!" Nors said with a big smile on his face.

"Lord, you are such an all-around mage! I didn't know you could also conjure money," Cedric said.

Kenny and Evan just stayed quiet. They were quick-witted; if their lord wanted to say something about it, he would. If not, who were they to question him?

Lucan looked at the items in front of him, and his eyes moved to their faces. It looked like they had misunderstood him. Lucan realized that their misunderstanding was getting too deep, so sometimes there needed to be some clarification.

Lucan said in a low voice, "It's not like that at all, and I'll say it once more: I am not that overpowered. This bag has 300 gold coins in it."

But Nors cut him off with a shocked expression. "Lord, 300 gold coins!" Lucan looked at him and gestured for him to be quiet.

"This bag was handed to me by my father when I was exiled here, and the brick of gold was inside the carriage. There were five of them; I just showed you one." Lucan cleared up their misunderstanding, and the others understood.

Kenny and Evan had already expected something like this, but Nors and Cedric were still surprised.

"Lord, this bag was handed to you by your father, but how can this brick just be inside the carriage? Didn't anyone try to steal it? And who would put gold bricks here?" Nors asked Lucan. Cedric nodded, as he understood what Nors meant.

"Now, Nors, who cares if someone put these gold bricks there or if someone tried to steal them? Look at the present: we have some money. I don't care if I got something for free. That's not the problem. The problem is if some other person tried to give me something for free. So forget all that," Lucan voiced his thoughts to all of them.

Kenny and Evan understood, but Nors and Cedric didn't understand it well. But why did Lucan need to help them understand it?

"Yes, Lord, if you say so," Nors said, and Cedric also nodded.

Lucan now stayed quiet, and the others were talking. At that time, a system prompt appeared in front of him. It was somewhat expected and also unexpected at the same time.

[Side Quest: Travel and buy item]

[Objective: You need to travel outside of your state and buy necessary items for your people]

[Time Limit - 2 days]

[Reward: Smithy Blueprint, the materials to build smithy]

[Failure: If you do not achieve the objective within the time limit, the five bricks of gold and your 300 gold coins will be taken]

Lucan looked at the prompts. It was a quest. Seeing this, Lucan thought, 'A side quest. Now that we have a carriage with a horse, you're actually giving me a quest. And the time limit is two days? The rewards are good enough to build a smithy for Ronan and Elara so they can work, but if I don't complete this quest, I will probably lose my money.'

Lucan looked at the area all around, finding a good place to build the smithy. 'I can build the smithy here. Now we need to plan who will go and who will not. I need to go so there isn't a problem with the money, but who do I take with me?'

"Kenny and Evan, go and call all the others here. We need to have a meeting," Lucan said, looking at the father-son duo. They followed his instruction. Kenny went to call his mom, Lyra, and Elias, and Evan went to call the others.

Nors looked at Lucan with a confused face. "Lord, a meeting now? For what? Is it for us to decide who will go to buy items?"

Cedric wanted to say something, but he didn't.

"Yes, we are having a meeting for this," Lucan said and stayed quiet.

After a few minutes of waiting, everyone was gathered near the fire. Lucan looked at them and checked if everyone was there. Then he said, "So, you have all heard that we are having a meeting here. First, before someone interrupts me, I would like to say that you should let me finish my point. Then, whoever wants to say something can say it."

Lucan looked at all of them and saw that everyone nodded. Then Lucan said, "Now that we have a way to travel, we will be doing it every now and then. Here in Elysian, we don't have any material to build something or enough food to eat. So, I and three other people will go and buy the necessary items to help us in making this land better. I will go because I have the money and I can talk with other people regarding the price, but I can't go alone. So, we are going to have a discussion about who will come with me and what items we need."

"Now you can talk about it."

Everyone's faces moved and they were about to speak, but the voice that came was from Cedric. "Lord, I will not come, and neither will Lyra. We are wanted in the other state. There could be someone who recognizes us."

With that, everyone looked at Cedric and Lyra. The story of Cedric killing someone had reached all their ears, so they nodded. Now, two people had been removed from the list to travel with Lucan.

Then, before anyone else could say anything, Dalia raised her hand. Lucan looked at her and nodded, so she spoke. "Lord, me and Elias also can't come with you."

Now two more people were removed.

"Lord, I also can't come. Now that Cedric is not going to come, if he was coming with you, then we could sell him," Nors said with a smile on his face. Nors even now wanted to sell Cedric, but everyone just looked at Nors, thinking, 'Why does this old man want to sell the other old man?'

One more person was removed.

Lucan now looked at all of them, at the ones who had not been removed. A voice came from Marcus. "Lord, I will come with you. I am a hunter, so if there is any problem, I can scare them or kill them if you want."

Lucan thought about it and nodded to him. But curiously, he said, "Marcus, why didn't you say your brother could come? Is there any problem?"

"No, Lord, it's just that if my brother Marcus goes, then I can stay here and guard the area," Elias said. Of these two brothers, one wanted to stay and the other wanted to go with Lucan.

"Lord, I will also come with you. If we get a good forge and anvil and other necessary items for the smithy, then the tools we make will be much better than the ones we have," it was Ronan's voice. He wanted to get a forge and some other tools.

"And, Lord, Elara will stay here," Ronan said at the end, and Elara nodded. She was listening to her husband.

"Then now there is one position left, and there is Kenny and Evan. So from the two of you, who will come?" Lucan said and looked at the two of them. Everyone also looked at them.

Kenny was getting nervous from the eyes that were on him, but his father, who was beside him, placed his hand on his shoulder and said, looking at Lucan, "Lord, I was just healed, and I can't properly do the work. And there will be problems if I were to come, so why don't you take my son with you? He will help you to the best of his ability."

Evan understood that his son, Kenny, wanted to travel outside the state. There was a glow in his eyes, and Evan couldn't let that glow dim. Since the day Kenny was born, there had never been a time when Evan could travel with Kenny to another state, but if there was a way now, why would his father say no to it?

Kenny now looked at his father and instantly hugged him. Then other people stared at him, so Kenny realized what he had done. Composing himself, he said, "Yes, Lord, I will go with you."

He was happy to go with Lucan.

"Now that it has been decided who will come, what are the items we need to buy? Ronan has said he needs smithy tools to make weapons or tools for us. Does anyone else have something in mind?" Lucan said to all of them. They all thought for a second, then the first voice was from Cedric.

"Lord, I know that you can have grass grow with a blink of an eye, but I need a livelihood, so can you buy some fertilizer and a watering can?"

"Lord, I want some spices. It has been many days, and I can't make food better with just this much," Dalia said, voicing her thoughts.

"Lord, I want a fairy book."

"Lord, I want a warrior book."

Elias and Lyra said at the same time. It looked like they had something in common; they liked books, but not enough to even have the same one.

"Lord, me and Elias think that we need some traps," Marcus said to Lucan.

"Lord, I… I don't want anything. I just want to travel with you," Kenny said. From the talk, it was obvious Kenny liked Lucan as a lord very much.

"Nors, don't you want anything? You were saying you want to sell Cedric, but what will you do with that money?" Lucan said, looking at Nors. Nors's eyes looked left and right when Lucan looked at him, but when their eyes met, he stood up and gestured to Lucan. Lucan, not caring, stood up and walked with Nors, just far enough so they couldn't be heard.

Then Nors slightly bowed forward and Lucan also did that. Nors placed his hand on Lucan's ear. Lucan also listened carefully, in case it was a secret.

Nors first looked back and saw that no one could hear from this far. He said to Lucan, "Lord, can you also buy some liquor to drink? It has been many days. I didn't drink a single drop of wine. Dalia doesn't even let me drink any wine, and Evan doesn't care about it, so can you please buy some wine on the way?"

Lucan straightened up and looked at Nors, and then back at the others. Then he gestured for Nors to bring his ear closer to Lucan. Then Lucan said, "I will do that, Nors, but I will also drink some now that I am of age."

Hearing this, Nors smiled, and Lucan also smiled back. They gave each other a thumbs-up and then slowly came back and sat down.

"Lord, what happened? Why did Nors and you go there to talk?" Cedric said, but there was no reply from Lucan, so he quieted down.

"Okay, now that everything has been decided, the ones who are staying here will handle all this work, and the ones who will come with me will think about the journey ahead. But looking at the sun, it will be evening in a few hours, so we can't go today," Lucan said, looking toward the sun. Everyone also looked.

"Marcus and Elias, I will call Chetak here. You need to prepare the carriage so we can travel without having to wait. And the others can go back to their daily life, but first, cut all this grass and feed some to Chetak, okay?" Lucan said and then stood up, slowly going toward his shelter.

He called out in a high voice, "Chetak, come here!"

The voice echoed for a few seconds and then faded. Lucan now went into his shelter, took the meat from his inventory, and slowly ate it.

A few minutes after he had eaten, he lay on the bed, and then the system prompt came.

[Daily Report - Day 10]

[Population - 10]

[LP - 59]

[CP - 515]

[Threat Level - Low]

[The grass has been cut +45 CP]

With that, he finally closed his eyes. There were sounds coming from outside. It was probably the time when they ate food, but Lucan just wanted to sleep, so in a few seconds, he fell asleep peacefully.
