Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Buying Items In Market

Lucan and Kenny were glancing at all the stalls around them. "Kenny, the market is a bit farther from here, but the stalls here are also good," Lucan said, taking in the view.

"Yes, Lord. You are right, but we need to walk into the heart of the market. Then we can see many more items available," Kenny said, responding to Lucan's thought of just looking at the stalls here.

"Then why don't we walk there?" Lucan said. With Kenny behind him, they walked for a few seconds, and soon the market came into view.

Here, the stalls were uncountable unless someone looked from above and counted them all. The atmosphere here was nothing compared to the area they had just passed through.

The sheer loudness of the crowd, the carriages coming and going, and the sound of people walking echoed everywhere. In this place, it felt like Lucan and Kenny would disappear; there wasn't much sound from their walking or their talking.

Lucan watched the area. Now that the Vaishali market was in front of them, he looked back at Kenny and asked, "Kenny, now that we are here, what do we purchase first? The spices, food supplies for us, Alian and Lyra's demands, or…" Lucan said in a much lower voice, so Kenny couldn't hear him well, "...a wine bottle for your grandpa?"

"What, Lord?" It seemed Kenny didn't hear him fully, but he had great hearing, or else he wouldn't have responded.

"Nothing, Kenny. I was saying, why don't we purchase some spices for making food the food better and after that, we can buy other items?" Lucan said to Kenny and walked toward a stall where there were spices— chili powder, salt, and many other kinds of seasonings.

Kenny followed closely behind Lucan. "Lord, wait for me!"

Lucan reached the stall in a few seconds. There was an old man with a great build for his age, and his skin color was somewhere between white and black. That person saw Lucan coming and called out, "Lord, the spices here are of high quality! Please come here; I will even give you a discount."

Lucan stood in front of the stall and looked at all the spices in the open bags. Their smell carried all the way to Lucan's nose. The old man, looking at Lucan's attire and face, had a slight change in expression, but he hid it quickly and said, "Sir, no, I mean, Lord, what do you want? I have every type of spice."

"I want black pepper, salt, cinnamon, cumin, turmeric, red chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cardamom, and sugar and tea leaves, if you have any," Lucan said. "Other than cardamom, I want 5 kg of each, and cardamom will be 1 kg. Is that okay?" To this, the old man and Kenny were shocked. It looked like Lucan was buying too much. For Kenny, he knew why, but for the old man, it was a profitable sale, so he hid his shock.

"Sir, no, I mean, Lord, this much? Are you going to some faraway place, or are the spices in low supply there? But, Lord, I don't care about that. If you are going to purchase all of this, then let me calculate it." The old man got a note to calculate it all, but first, he prepared a chair for Lucan. There wasn't one for Kenny because he thought the person behind Lucan was probably a nobody.

Lucan, who had heard the man say "sir" and then "lord," knew that when a person wants your money or help, they would use any sweet words they could. But Lucan didn't think too much about it and sat on the chair.

After a few minutes of calculation and getting 5 kg of each spice, which he put to the side of the stall, the old man came near Lucan and said, "Lord, all these spices have been calculated. It's 20 gold coins."

"This much? Lord, we can get it from other stalls; this person here is just robbing us," Kenny said, his voice reaching their ears.

"Lord, this is as low as I can go. If you go to any other stall, they will sell it for a higher price," the old man said to Lucan. Lucan, however, acted as if he were thinking.

Then Lucan said, "I think the price is still too high. Kenny, let's go; we will buy from another stall." As soon as Lucan said this and was about to walk away after standing up, the old man's voice came.

"Lord, I can sell all of this if you give me 19 gold coins!"

"14 gold coins," Lucan said and kept walking as if the voice hadn't come.

"Lord, umm… 18 gold coins! No more than that!" The old man said, looking like he was about to cry that the person in front of him would not buy, but he was just acting to sell the items.

"14 gold coins and 5 silver," Lucan said, and now he was actually going to leave, but the old man came in front of him.

The old man said, "Lord, 16 gold coins, and you can take it."

But Lucan said it once more. "14 gold coins and 5 silver coins. I will not give you more than this."

To this, the old man was actually going to cry, but he was acting. "Lord, if you do this, what will I even have? Please, for this old man, can't you just buy it?" Lucan heard it and soon started walking with Kenny behind him. And then, the old man's voice came.

"Lord, 15 gold coins!"

Lucan stopped, looked back, and with a smile on his face, said, "Okay, deal."

With that, the deal was made, and Lucan got all the spices without feeling robbed.

Now that Lucan had all the spices, he looked left and right at where he was. In a blink of an eye, all the spices were gone. For others, it was magic, but for Lucan, it was the system, specifically his inventory.

"Lord, you were a mage! Sorry, Lord, I didn't know that," the old man said and went back to his own business. It looked like in this city, even if there was a mage in front of them, they would just act normal.

The crowd's voices came from all over the place. Lucan, with Kenny behind him, was now a bit far from the spice shop.

"Kenny, now let's go and buy a set of clothes for me. I want to at least have a good image," Lucan said to Kenny. Kenny was just enjoying the view, but he heard it.

"Yes, Lord, let's go," Kenny said and now followed behind Lucan. After a few seconds of walking, they were in front of a shop that was full of clothes.

There were clothes outside and also inside. There was a barber shop to the left and a tailor shop to the right, but Lucan chose the one in the middle and soon walked inside with Kenny.

Inside, there were all girls in their mid-20s.

One was helping another select her dress, another was working as the receptionist, another was the greeter, and there were many more different kinds of jobs for them. From the outside, the shop looked small, but after coming inside, it was big.

"Welcome, sir," the girl said and bowed deeply, even though Lucan was not in great condition. It looked like they welcomed all kinds of people.

"So, who will be the one to show me the clothes?" Lucan said and looked left and right in the shop. He wanted someone to guide him. Kenny was also behind him.

Then, in a second, a girl came in with great attire and a cold look on her face. She was slim but tall enough to match Lucan. Her beauty was not in comparison to Lucan's, but she had her own good aspects.

"Sir, I will show you the clothes. Come with me," the girl said and walked in front of Lucan to a section that was only for men. Lucan and Kenny followed her behind.

In front of the men's section, where all kinds of good clothes were, there were mage's robes, noble clothes, and others.

The girl looked at Lucan for a second, then picked a dress. It had a light blue shirt and black pants. It was a great match if someone just looked at them.

"Sir, you can wear this. They will look great on you. And I also have a coat that can be worn over it, and a tie. Sir, we also have shoes," she said and handed the clothes to Lucan. Lucan looked at Kenny, wanting his opinion.

Kenny gave a thumbs-up, and Lucan now wanted to try it on, so he asked the girl, "Where is the changing room?" She heard him and gave Lucan the direction.

Lucan followed it and soon reached the dressing room. There was already a coat, tie, and boots by the door. Lucan picked them all, opened the door, went inside, and locked it.

A few minutes later, the door opened, and a handsome young man came out in a great outfit. Everyone who looked at him was shocked by the sight.

Some had red hearts in their eyes. Lucan was already handsome, there was also the cold-looking girl that was also charmed by him. Kenny, just outside the room, looked like he was wondering what had happened to all of them, but he also had the thought, 'My Lord is looking really great. He was great, but now, after wearing a good dress, he looks even better.'

"Lord, you are looking so good in this outfit!" Kenny said and walked to Lucan. Lucan, fixing his clothes, looked like a prince coming down from heaven, with a coat and tie on.

"Do I really look that good? If you say so, then we can buy it," Lucan said and walked to the cold-looking girl. Kenny was behind him.

"Sir, this dress looks so good on you. If you want, you can buy it," she said and looked Lucan up and down.

"I will buy it. Kenny said I looked so good in this, so what is the price for it?" Lucan said and saw his face in the mirror that was in the shop.

"And I will wear it now. I don't want it to be packed," Lucan said and looked back at his reflection in the mirror.

"Sir, if you want to wear it, then it's okay. You can go and pay the bill at the counter," she said and walked in the opposite direction.

Hearing this, Lucan looked for where the counter was. Finding it, he walked toward it, with Kenny following him behind.

"Kenny, don't you want a dress? If you want, I can buy one or two for you," Lucan said to Kenny.

To this, Kenny was shocked for a second, but soon he said, "Lord, if you say so, then I want it, but for now, I don't. When our Elysian can be a better place, if I wear a good dress, then all the others will be looking at me. But if you buy it now, there will be a time when it will get dirty, and we don't have a way to wash it and keep it from smelling."

"I just said I would buy it for you if you wanted. But you gave me this big of a comment. You can just say no; there is no need to talk so much and get thirsty because of it," Lucan said and looked in front of him.

There was a man now at the counter. When Lucan had come, he wasn't there, so it could only mean his working hour was starting now, or he was the owner of the shop.

"Sir, the price of this dress and all the other things with it comes to 5 gold coins. You have to pay 5 coins for it," the person said and waited for the payment.

Lucan used his inventory, took out 5 gold coins from his pants pocket, and gave them to the person. "Here, take this."

The person took the coins and bowed to Lucan. Lucan, greeting him back, walked outside of the shop with Kenny following behind him.
