Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Girls, Fireball and Magic

"Now, Kenny, where do we go?" Lucan asked the young man beside him.

"Lord..." Kenny said after thinking for a second. "Why don't we go and buy Lyra and Alian's books?"

Lucan heard him and also thought about it, now his mind set on the books. "Then we need to find a place where there are books for sale."

"Kenny, go and ask someone if they know the location of the book shop," Lucan said. With that, Kenny replied with "Yes, Lord" and walked from shop to shop, asking around.

Lucan waited for him. After a few minutes of waiting, Lucan saw Kenny coming back, so he knew he didn't have to wait anymore.

After coming in front of Lucan, Kenny said, "Lord, I asked people, and from them, I found out that the book shop is a bit far from here and also has a bad reputation for theft. Lord, if we go straight from here, take a left, and then a right, and go straight for 100 meters, we will see the sign."

"It's really far then. Let's go without waiting any longer. But about the theft problem, forget that. I have a solution if anyone tries to steal from me," Lucan said and walked with Kenny in the crowd. Kenny, who was with him, thought for a second but couldn't find the answer to Lucan's solution.

He asked, "Lord, what solution? Can you give me a hint, even if it's a small one?"

Lucan, who was walking in front, heard him and thought for a few seconds before replying, "A hint, hmm… It will probably be fire. Now, what you will think with fire depends on you."

Kenny, hearing this, went deep into his mind to think.

Lucan, who was walking in front, looked at Kenny, who was so deep in his thoughts that he didn't even hear the crowd wanting them to move to the side.

After a few minutes of walking, Lucan reached the book shop. It had a dark look with a dark atmosphere.

It looked like a ghost would appear at any moment, but there was none. The name of the shop was 'A Witch's Book.' It was different from what they thought it would be, but Lucan, clearing his thoughts, went inside with Kenny.

Kenny, who was still deep in his thoughts, finally came out of it and said to Lucan, "Lord, I still haven't figured out the solution. I don't know what you will do with fire. Will you let him burn in fire, or slowly burn? I don't know what you will do."

Lucan, hearing this, looked back at Kenny and thought, 'This Kenny is thinking too wildly. It's a good thing he isn't a criminal or a royal investigator, or else he would be getting all his answers just by scaring people.'

"No, I will not burn him or her, but let's leave that aside now that we have reached the book store," Lucan said to Kenny so he could clear his thoughts and stop thinking about it.

Kenny, hearing that they had reached the bookstore, didn't believe it at first, but after seeing the bookstore's name, he realized that it was the one they needed to reach.

"Lord, I think we just reached here fast. I thought it was far, but now that I see it…" Kenny said to Lucan.

To this, Lucan looked at Kenny and laughed, then said, "Kenny, this place is really far. It's just that you were so in your thoughts that you didn't feel how far it was."

"Lord, I am really sorry for that, Lord. I will not do that next time," Kenny said. Now that they had reached the bookstore, they entered it.

Kenny and Lucan both thought that it would probably be as dark on the inside as it was on the outside, but after coming inside, they saw that there was greenery everywhere.

The bookshelves had a great texture. The chair and table for reading and the table for a receptionist all had a good, bright look. They weren't dark; it was just outside.

Then, there were more than ten people who were reading books, and a person was handling the book purchases and sales.

It was a girl who was also beautiful with glasses on her face. She had long black hair and a dress. Her eyes were gray, and she had a name tag attached to her with the name 'Minakshi.'

Her name was beautiful, and it matched the beautiful girl. Lucan and Kenny, who had just come inside, looked back and forth, then saw Minakshi, who was the shopkeeper.

She was sleeping, like, really sleeping during working hours. Others who were reading books and some who were just strolling here and there didn't disturb her, but Lucan needed to do so.

Lucan, with a low fist, made the sound of hitting the desk. She didn't wake up, but the low sound echoed a bit. Even with that, some of the others reading books looked at Lucan's side. Kenny was getting nervous from the eyes staring at him, but with Lucan by his side, he calmed down.

Not getting a response, Lucan hit the desk once more. This time, she woke up. There was saliva in her mouth, and there was also a hair in her mouth.

Seeing Lucan, she instantly fell. There wasn't any other items for her to fall. Seeing it, Lucan immediately went to the other side of the desk and helped Minakshi stand up. With his help, he said, "Are you okay, Minakshi?" after seeing her name tag.

Minakshi, who was looking at Lucan, wasn't listening at all; her eyes were just on Lucan. But Lucan, not caring about it, helped her stand up, then, shaking her, said, "Minakshi, Minakshi."

Then she got out of her thoughts and looked at the others who were reading, and also at Kenny, who was on the other side of the desk.

Then her eyes landed on Lucan, a person in a light blue shirt and black pants. He was looking so handsome.

"Ah… sorry, sir, do you need anything?" she said after getting up with Lucan's help. She composed herself.

Lucan and Kenny were looking at her. Lucan, now that he had helped, went to the other side of the desk where Kenny was.

Then Lucan said to Minakshi, "Do you have any books related to warriors and fairies? I need it for my family children." Lucan saying this was actually a good thing.

He couldn't just say that he was the lord of a state or that he was an exiled son, anything that could expose him.

'Family children?' Kenny thought.

"Warrior and fairy books, let me think for a bit," she said and, with one hand on her head, looked like she was in deep thought.

Then, in a second, she replied, "Yes, sir, we do have these books. Just wait here for a moment, I will bring them here. But, sir, do you want to read it here, or do you want to buy it?"

"I want to buy it," Lucan said and looked back, taking in the view with Kenny. The girl heard him and went to bring the books. She went to the section where children's books were available.

Lucan and Kenny just waited there.

Kenny, who was excited for what we don't know, said, "Lord, don't you think we can go and meet with Marcus and Ronan after purchasing the books?"

To this, Lucan thought for a second and then replied, "Kenny, there is still the fertilizer we need to buy, and the wheat flour, with some other kitchen items, so that we have a stable kitchen for us to prepare food."

"Sir, I think that Ronan and Marcus have purchased their tools, and they also listened to Cedric grandpa saying he needs fertilizer. Here, where we are, there will probably not be any fertilizer-selling shops, but where those two have gone, the items that Cedric grandpa needs are available."

"So, you are saying they will purchase it, right?" Lucan said and looked at Kenny.

"Yes, Lord," Kenny said. Then, as they were talking, the girl who had gone to bring the books came with two books in her hand. In one hand, two books, and the other was fixing the glasses on her face.

She walked to the other side of the desk, where she was probably standing. Then, putting the books on the desk, she said, "Sir, here are the books. You can see if they like it or not."

Lucan picked one book, and Kenny picked the other. They read some pages after opening the books, but while Lucan was reading, the girl was looking at him with eyes that looked like she wanted to bite him.

The other people reading books and sitting on the tables were looking at the girl with different eyes—not the way they looked at her, but the way she was looking at Lucan.

After reading some pages, Lucan put the book on the desk, and Kenny also followed him and put the book down. Then Lucan said to her, "So, what is the price?"

To this, she replied in a voice so low that she also couldn't hear it. "Sir, for you, it will be free, just that you need to come here every day."

But Lucan heard it, not perfectly, but he got some words. "What?"

She composed herself and then said, "Sir, these two books are 5 silver each, so it means you need to give 1 gold coin for these two books."

Then, without waiting a moment, Lucan took out one gold coin from his pocket and put it on the desk.

Then the girl took it and put it into the desk. She now just looked at him, but Lucan now started to walk outside, and Kenny picked up the books.

After coming outside, Minakshi was unknown to Lucan, and Lucan was not unknown to Minakshi.

But now that Lucan and Kenny had come outside the shop and looked back at the shop, it now had a dark look to it, just like how they first saw it.

Lucan, looking at Kenny, said, "Kenny, give me these books. I will handle them. You go and buy a bottle of wine, and also take these 5 gold coins. If you see Ronan or Marcus, then tell them to buy about 20 kg of wheat flour if they have some money saved, okay?"

"Lord, I understand that we need wheat flour, but the wine… Do you drink wine, Lord?" Kenny said to Lucan.

To this, Lucan replied with a chuckle, "I can drink wine if I want, but it's for your grandpa. He said he needs a bottle of wine."

"Oh… for grandpa," Kenny said in a not-so-shocked voice.

"Now, go and also tell them to buy vegetables that can be cooked to make a meal, and I will go to take a look around," Lucan said and bid farewell to Kenny.

Kenny just bowed his head and, without saying a word, walked away. In a few minutes, there was just Lucan and some people walking here and there.

Now, Lucan, fixing his clothes like he always did, started walking. For some time, he walked, but then in an alley, a voice came: "Catch her! This girl needs to be caught today!"

Lucan's hearing was great; even if other people didn't hear, Lucan heard it and walked to where the voice came from.

After a few seconds of walking, his vision came to a dark alley, where there were windows on the houses and garbage here and there. There was a girl who was older than Lucan.

She looked like a young girl, but her height was similar to Lucan's, about 5'10" or 5'11". And there were also two people who looked like criminals or thieves.

They were trying to catch the girl. She was between the two of them, one in the back and one in the front. She looked back and forth every second.

Her voice came. It was a cute voice, but the word was not: "Fireball!"
