"You know we will be scrapped for this, right?" One of the officers started to speak to the other about consequences for escorting Kilo around the city instead of taking him back to his ship.
"Could be worse, might get banished instead. This was your idea so you will take the fall for it." This shut up the first guard for a solid while as they tried to think.
"All I'm saying is that getting scrapped is way wor-" The first guard was immediately cut off.
"Being scrapped is an act of mercy, being banished means we can't hear, see or feel anything except for what's around us. It would be torture." The second guard firmly stated their opinion shutting down the conversation for good.
It was nice for Kilo to explore the city in peace but the stillness slowly ate away at him, the only life seen were the fish swimming overhead. It had been over a month since he came to this planet and city and yet this was the most he had explored, it was simply agony for him to be trapped here.
"Oh shit!" Kilo exclaimed as one of the guards picked him up by the arm being careful not to crush it.
"We are going back now" The guard ordered as they held Kilo up to their head.
With no other choice Kilo walked between the two guards as they made their way back, he looked like a child next to the Eklan soldiers.
The earlies conversation between the two soldiers started to make Kilo think about what they did for him, risking their existence so he could explore a city. The only sound within the city was their marching until that too disappeared when they reached Kilo's ship, hours of walking had exhausted him but it was well worth it.
It was back to one day after another with another month passing by like it was nothing. The thought of regret from accepting this contract crept into his mind but he forced it out by all means necessary, this was the cost of becoming a freelancer.
