A long streak of light stretched across the system as Kilo darted along before finally stopping at Prospect station. As Kilo entered the station he could see most of the landing pads sectioned off with workers moving around like ants. Stepping onto the landing pad he could see sparks fly from bright flashes from working welding and cutting sections from the other various landing pads. He wasn't sure what was going on but it quickly became the last thing he wanted to know as his eyes settled onto a humanoid life form in an SDF uniform approaching with two soldiers at their side.
He wanted to scuttle back into his ship and takeoff but he knew he would have to face his past whether he wanted to or not. Watching the three soldiers approach felt like an eternity as he stood there like he was back in formation. Memories of his training and the wars flashed through his mind until he was snapped back to reality as the lieutenant started to speak.
"You saved 17 lives, 142 confirmed kills, awarded four purple hearts, six medals of bravery, and 13 other medals during your service. You were an exceptional soldier and I see you have carried out similar duties as a freelancer." The lieutenant spoke to him in a way that no one in the SDF ever would, it was an otherworldly feeling that made him drop his guard slightly.
"If your here to recruit I know a bar with desperate looking souls. If you have a job for me, get to the point and stop wasting my time." He made his message clear to the SDF, he wasn't looking to rejoin but was open to a potential payment.
Before he knew it they were in Kilo's ship briefing him on the contract details as the two soldiers stood guard.
The lieutenant spoke carefully as the avoid letting too much information go.
"LHS-1361c has a Ventrix black site, our intel tells us it's tasked with the testing of biological weapons. We also think they were behind the pathogen on LHS-1361e, the public were told lies to avoid panic of potential war." It was a fair amount of information but Kilo worked through it quickly.
"I assume you want me to infiltrate the black site and either shut it down ,or extract information, or have a lot of fun and do both. Correct?" Kilo knew this sort of operation too well, get in and get out before anyone can respond.
