"Dragons."
My voice escaped weary and strained, as I swallowed down the nausea roiling in my stomach.
Still caught between them, Xavier's tail was wrapped tight around my waist while Xander's claws dug into his brother's, holding him back. The two of them were locked in a tug of war, and I was the unwilling prize caught in the middle.
But they no longer seemed to hear me, bickering and straining against each other like oversized children fighting over a favorite toy.
My vision blurred. This wasn't good.
"Leviathans…" The word slipped from me in a frail, breathless murmur, my chest tightening with the urge to retch.
Still they ignored me. My voice was drowned beneath the growl of their quarrel.
I inhaled deeply, closed my eyes, and finally snapped.
"Silence!"
Both dragons, who a heartbeat ago were seething with the kind of fury that could tear mountains apart, drew back with startled whines, shrinking their necks like chastised hounds. At last, silence.
