Chapter 4: A Spark of Attraction
Sophia's days blurred together in a whirlwind of meetings, deadlines, and late nights she stayed at the office without much complain or stress.
But despite the chaos, she couldn't deny the spark of attraction she felt whenever Ethan was near her or even try to be closure to her .
She tried to brush it off as mere curiosity, but the truth was, she was drawn to his intensity, his passion for his work, and the glimpses of vulnerability he occasionally revealed , she was noticing every single details about him .
One evening, as they were working late on a particular important project, Ethan suddenly stood up and stretched, his shirt pulling tight across his broad shoulders though revealing part of his stomach .
Sophia's eyes caught a glimpse of it immediately, and she felt something in her chest , her chest hardened , I mean who wouldn't get tempted to at least take a look of their boss body when they were not aware.
She quickly looked away trying to look normal , but Ethan caught her gaze, his eyes sparkling with amusement , but he noticed she was trying to play cool , like she didn't see anything ... then he suddenly said .
"Like what you see?" he asked, his voice low and teasing.
Sophia's eye widened but she tried to control herself , and she felt like she'd been caught red-handed. "sorry sir I was Just...admiring your wo.... rk ethic ," she stammered .
Something she never does when ever she was talking , she was an outspoken type ... she looked up at him and swallowed hard '' A water will do right now " she muttered to herself trying to play cool .
Ethan chuckled surprisingly which was rare , the sound sending shivers down her spine, ''oh please not again " she said trying to control herself very strictly.
'' okay if you say so but I think you were admiring something else, Sophia," he said, his eyes narrowed onto hers looking at Sophia suspiciously ...
But Sophia didn't act like she was being hunted or something ... she just knew that any wrong move could make her loss her job .. but she still had the mind to be thinking really out of the box ...
Sophia's heart skipped a beat when she heard those words , I mean Was he flirting with her?
She couldn't tell, but she knew she was in trouble. She was already drawn to him, and if she wasn't careful, she might find herself falling for her demanding, very much annoying,self centered and captivating boss of course at least she can be proud of the captivating part.
As they continued working, the tension between them grew thicker than the air. sophia felt maybe she wasn't breathing properly cause it doesn't feel like she really is breathing properly which is very much annoying ... she just can't wave the feeling away.
Sophia felt like she was walking on eggshells, unsure of what would happen next would happen either tommorow or next But one thing she was certain about was that : she was in for a wild ride with Ethan the ruthless owner of Blackwood.
