Shurry was more than a little confused. To him, these two, they were his parents. So he didn't understand why they'd leave him alone. "I don't understand, papa, why do you have to give me to someone else?"
"Well, the mission of this school district is to travel the world and solve problems wherever they may arise. To be the beacon of light in this world. And you, you're going to need a lot of time in the dungeon. Something I simply could never give you. I knew that one day, I'd have to give you up. I simply couldn't leave you there…"
Shurry started crying… "Papa, can… Can you always be my papa!? And Mommy too!"
The two of them smiled warmly and then giggled. "Of course. And we're going to make sure that the familia you join has everything you'd ever need." Baldr added. "I won't allow you to join a bad familia either."
"Can smell those from a mile away. No need to worry." Shurry said with a confident smile.
Idunn hugged Shurry closer, his face now firmly pressed against her bosom. "And there's no need to worry. We have you until you're five, and I'm going to make the most of every moment!" She said with an impressive degree of confidence.
"Well, I'm not going to turn mommy down. I love you!"
Baldr laughed. "Alright, Shurry, there's something I want you to train for while we continue our journey. Your ability to heal others with Lunas Restore… There's a pair of twins a little older than you living in Orario, they have this illness, and nothing has worked for them so far."
"Can I cure it?" Shurry asked, wanting to help. I hate suffering. So if I can banish it then…
Baldr winced a little as if he was unsure how to answer that question. He is really good at asking the tough questions. "Well, I'm not certain it's possible. This is an illness that permeates the soul, and hasn't been cured, even with a falna. On the other hand, your magic seems to have the ability to work on the soul to some degree." He elaborated, trying to weave through the minefield of that question.
"So, it's just a chance then, Luna, you think we can do it?" I asked.
"With you, my best friend! I'm sure we can do something about that silly little illness!" Luna said, appearing on my head and proudly puffing her proportionate chest out. In the same childish way as she usually did.
"Pfft, well alright then. I'll leave it to you. You do whatever you need to do."
…
Some days passed since the first mission, and Shurry underwent training, and schooling daily. His life was filled with a whole lot more information overload than one would normally give a child. However, his ability to heal others continued to steadily increase.
His main training partners were the two Amazons on the ship, as well as the one dark elf he went on the mission with, Legi. And by training partners, it was more of a test to see how fast he could heal others, and what types of injuries. Those three just ended up being the willing test subjects because, well, for some reason they were all attracted to him.
Well, it wasn't a wonder in the case of the amazoness girls, he had a skill that basically condemned him to constantly being sought out by such people. I wonder why Legi wants to subject herself to these tests for my sake. Does she get something out of it? Does she want my body too?
Just as Shurry was thinking of it, his real training partner appeared. "Hey there, ready for more training today?"
"Uncle Leon, why does Legi do this for me?" Shurry asked.
Leon couldn't hold back his laughter. "Oh, you're too cute." He continued laughing.
"Hey, I'm serious, I want to know."
His laughing got worse, and then finally calmed down. "Alright, well, she's an elf, so being around the spirits is sort of in their description in a way."
"I thought elves hated being around others though?" Shurry's tail made a question mark as his head tilted.
"They do, but if it's someone blessed by a spirit. I think they'd love to be as close as possible with them. You should try to get closer with her. Maybe you can bring her with you as a friend for those dungeon runs-"
"No! I don't want to leave Lord Baldr!" Legi shouted, all but crying now.
"Hmm, alright, it was just a thought. But it seems like your intentions lie elsewhere." Leon chuckled. "Alright Shurry, time for your hard core training. Today I'm coming at you like a minotaur would. It won't be the same as the real thing, but… Ah, I'm sure you can handle it." He added.
Shurry went with Leon to train. Leaving Legi behind with the two amazoness girls. "I don't want him to leave either…"
"Pfft, you're funny. Let's keep getting stronger together!"
"That way we can clear the dungeon floors as much as we want!"
"Alright…"
Days passed, missions came and went. Weeks passed, and the ship continued its journey. When finally we reached the ocean a month after training began.
"Alright everyone," Leon stood at a portion of the ship and how it was right where an exit to the water below was. "You should have already received your swim suits… Hmm? Shurry?"
"Huh? What is it, Uncle Leon?"
"Where's your swimsuit?"
"Huh? Do you mean that weird fabric thing from earlier? I left in my room. I couldn't figure out why it would help me with swimming. There wasn't any magic, or any defense on it."
"So what do you intend on using for the water lesson today?"
"Can I not just swim naked, it's just a really big bath right?"
The school started laughing, and the two amazoness girls were intrigued. One shouted out. "Now that's what I'm talking about. Clothes just restrict our movements don't they!"
Then the other… "Woo hoo! No more stuffy clothes today!" Almost ripped off what little she already wore.
Leon sighed. "It's a good thing I brought spares. You have to wear a swim suit for modesty reasons."
"Huh!? But…"
"No, you will wear it."
"No, you can't make me!"
Leon caught the running werewolf and made him put the swim trunks on. Shurry now back in the line, squatted down and pouted, making circles on the floor with his finger.
