Everyone had settled in Axel and Jayvaughn's apartment, the warm lighting casting a soft glow over the cozy space. They'd barely been there ten minutes, chatting casually, when Axel started to notice something strange.
Lucian kept staring at him.
At first, Axel ignored it, brushing it off as maybe Lucian being deep in thought. But the longer it went on, the more uncomfortable it got. Axel could feel Lucian's eyes on him like they were dissecting his soul. He glanced away, then back—yep, still staring.
Even Jayvaughn, who'd been scrolling through his phone lazily while curled next to Axel on the couch, looked up and narrowed his eyes at his friend.
"Why are you looking at my boyfriend like that?" his expression seemed to say.
Lucian, finally realizing the awkwardness he was causing, blinked out of his thoughts. "Shit," he muttered, sitting upright. "Sorry. I didn't mean to stare."
