The underground garage of the Syren members' condo building was quiet, its dim lights humming softly above as Axel pulled into his usual spot. The engine ticked as it cooled, and Axel sat still for a moment, hands resting on the wheel.
It had been a long night.
Just as he reached to turn off the headlights, another car pulled into the space beside his—sleek, familiar, and unmistakably Jayvaughn's.
He's back, Axel thought with a small exhale, already feeling the familiar flutter in his chest.
He stepped out of his car just as Jayvaughn did the same. They locked eyes, and before Axel could even greet him, Jayvaughn was already striding over. With no hesitation, he wrapped Axel up in his arms, lifted him right off the ground, and pressed him back against the side of his own car.
Then he kissed him.
