Even though Marlon was still trying to process the shock of everything—the fact that Axel was Z, that Z was now called "Daddy Axel," and apparently Jayvaughn's boyfriend—his gaze drifted back to the little boy in Axel's arms.
Despite the emotional storm in his head, he couldn't help but admit it: Jaimie was incredibly cute.
"It's nice to meet you too, Jaimie," Marlon said with a soft smile. Without really thinking, he reached out to take the child from Axel.
Axel raised a brow but didn't protest, gently passing Jaimie over. Marlon held him carefully, awkward at first, as if unsure of what to do. But the longer he looked at the boy, the more guilt settled deep in his chest.
This innocent kid… I nearly harmed him. I was part of a mission that could've ruined his life.
