Axel stared at Marlon in silence, the storm in his eyes slowly settling. Though the sting of disappointment still lingered, he understood now. Marlon hadn't stepped into this world for power or greed—he did it because he was searching for him. As much as Axel hated the decision, he couldn't deny the loyalty behind it.
He sighed, letting the tension ease from his shoulders. "Do you have somewhere to stay tonight?"
Marlon, looking like a guilty child caught sneaking out, nodded quickly. "Y-Yes. A hotel… not far from here."
"Good," Axel replied simply.
There was no need to scold him further. He had already said what needed to be said.
"Give me your phone number."
Marlon blinked in surprise but obeyed, tapping the number into Axel's phone without hesitation. Axel saved it without another word.
"I'll call you tomorrow," Axel said. "We'll meet again. I've spent too much time outside today already."
