When my mind registered what he said, that magic had disappeared, my mind went blank. I could clearly feel the magic in the air and the night sky. Yet, here was someone who was claiming that magic was gone. And it has been centuries since anyone could wield magic.
However, I didn't let this show on my face.
But it seemed that the man known as Ozpin could read my eyes.
.
"Yes, Magic as we know it is gone from this world," Ozpin spoke as if he were talking about the weather. "However, you, Mr. Wolf, are an anomaly."
"I see," I spoke quietly, "How about we take these talks somewhere less open?"
.
Ozpin nodded and turned around as I slipped my helm back on. From there, I followed the two of them towards what I could only describe as a castle on a massive cliff face. As we walked, the sound of glass shattering echoed down the street. That's when the three of us saw a little girl with red and black hair beating a bunch of people with a scythe that dwarfed her in height.
Glynda sighed and started to march towards the girl when a man in a white jacket emerged from a building. I couldn't hear what the man said, but the next instant, both he and the girl were in a purple bubble. Both the man and the girl were surprised at the suddenness of the bubble surrounding them.
I just looked at Ozpin when Glynda returned with the two captives, silently asking what this was. The gesture was subtle, but he understood. With just his eyes, he spoke enough for me to wait with my questions. I just shrugged and decided to wait and see where this goes.
...
..
.
After a very questionable talk with the girl at a guard post building, they referred to it as a police station, the three of us got in a flying contraption that flew us to the castle. Once we arrived, Ozpin escorted Glynda and me to his quarters atop a tall tower he called his 'office'. Inside his office, Ozpin gestured for me to take a seat as Glynda stood by his side as he sat down himself.
.
"Now then, what is your real name?" Ozpin asked directly.
"I don't know," I answered truthfully, "I've long since lost my memory during my travels."
"And where have you traveled from?" Another question, directly asked.
"Many places, but few from this world." The truth, once again.
"So you know this is not a world you know of," Ozpin said more to himself and Glynda. "Where do you hail from then?"
"A place called 'The Lands Between'," I answered yet again. "A place where death is but a certainty for those not Tarnished. For those that are, it's a cycle that never ends."
"I'm guessing that you are one of these, 'Tarnished'," Ozpin said this as more of a statement than a question.
"Yes, I am or was?" I spoke, "I'm not sure anymore since I came to this world. As I have not seen a sign or trace of Grace."
"What is this 'Grace' you speak of?" Glynda asked this time, her voice laced with curiosity.
"Grace is the calling of the 'One True God', it is believed." I started before going on to explain all that I could about Grace.
.
My explanation was a long one. Going over all that I could remember from the less of the 'Golden Order'. Even explaining the 'Long March', the Elden Ring, The Outer Gods, and what I knew from the scriptures about the other Gods. By the time I was finished, both Glynda and Ozpin looked serious.
Then he asked a question that surprised me.
.
"What do these Sights of Graces look like?" Ozpin asked after a stunned silence. Glynda was in a similar boat.
.
The look on their faces when I told them what they looked like scared them. Without warning, Ozpin stood and beckoned for me to follow him. The three of us entered the elevator once again; however, this time Ozpin pulled out a key and slotted it into a hidden hole. After turning the key, the elevator descended past the ground floor.
A minute-long ride later, we entered a deep underground chamber. Numerous pillars supported the entire chamber as the three of us walked. Finally, we reached a metal casket with a woman inside. However, next to the casket made me pause.
It was a sight of Grace.
Torrent, my ever-trustful steed, appeared next to the three of us and trotted forward. While the two of them were shocked at the sight of my steed appearing from thin air, I followed and came close to the sight of Grace. Torrent trotted around the Grace, eager for me to activate it. I smiled and held out my hand over the top of the site. With a small mental push, I felt the Grace respond to my call.
The chamber, once dark and dim, lit up in a golden glow. Ozpin stared at the site with both fear and awe. Glynda, on the other hand, was shocked that something that they couldn't understand responded to me.
I smiled, ignoring them as I pulled out a small handful of Rowa berries and gave them to Torrent, as my entire body felt at ease. All the weariness I felt over the several days disappeared in an instant. Checking over my items, I was happy to see that my flasks were refilled and all the abilities I had in The Lands Between were still there.
.
"It can't be..." I heard Ozpin mutter, scared and in awe. "That means all the legends were true."
"Ozpin, what legends?" Glynda asked, shocked to see the Headmaster like this.
"There was a legend that the Brother Gods, who created Remnant and all its inhabitants, were from another plane. Since they could not even use these sites." Ozpin stated. "As far as we were concerned, they were just a byproduct of their creation. However, here stands the truth. They were just minor gods who took credit for this world's creation."
"Then what does that mean for us?" Glynda asked as she didn't understand the true depths of what Ozpin was saying.
"I... don't know," Ozpin spoke quietly.
