Chapter 4 - Shanty Town Destoryed

I stepped back after the blow, my mind reeling with all the possibilities of this invisible armor sorcery. As I was about to strike again, I saw a young, Faunus girl holding a strange tube, and she was pointing it at me. My instincts screamed at me, and I raised my shield just in time to block something that slammed into my shield with great force. I grunted under the force as I staggered back.

The teen Faunus took this time to recover from the blow and repeatedly strike my shield with increasing force. I struggled with the onslaught at first until I realized he was swinging wildly. As soon as he overextended with one of his attacks, I parried the attack and struck out with my sword. The invisible armor he had absorbed my strike once again, but this time, I noticed that it started to flicker. A red aura that was covering him shattered with the third strike I'd dealt.

Just as I was about to strike the finishing blow on the teen, the girl who shot at me did so again. This time, though, I got struck in the chest by whatever that tube was shooting out. I staggered back, raising my shield just in time to deflect a strike from the teen. I was now winded from that tube, but I didn't let my guard down once again.

Before I could react, a smoke pot erupted in front of me, and I lost sight of the teen and the kid. When the smoke cleared, the two of them were gone. As I turned back towards the town hall, I saw it up in flames. I rushed towards the town hall and bashed the door down with pure strength.

The inside was littered with bodies that had holes in them. Not one was spared, not even the kids. The ones that had it the worst were the Faunus families. They were dismembered. As I searched for possible survivors, I found a small girl who was hidden away from the carnage in a cupboard, no older than three. I quickly pulled her out and dashed out of the town hall.

As I got out of the smoke and flames, I found the camp surrounded by Grimm. Anger swelled up inside of me as the Grimm prowled towards the two of us. I pulled out one of my [Finger Seal]s and charged casted the [Zamor Ice Storm] spell at full power. The ice storm raged and lashed out with deadly intent. The little girl and I were safe in the eye of the storm, but the Grimm were not.

By the time the ice storm was over, the entire town was frozen along with the Grimm. The only survivors were I and the girl. Knowing that the Ice would kill the Grimm, I began to search for supplies. Both for the girl and me, as we could no longer stay here. The ice would melt, that I was sure of, and the smell of blood would bring more Grimm in. I knew that I could handle myself if I were alone, however, I wasn't sure about my ability to protect the girl as well as I fought.

Soon, I managed to scrape together enough frozen food and water for the two of us that should last us a couple of days. After that, I recalled the map of the area Sir Hawthorn had shown me and headed for the nearest road towards the biggest city, Vale.

If my memory serves right, it would take days, maybe a week, to get there on foot. Thankfully, I have Torrent, my spectral steed, to help speed up the time. As I wandered out of the town, I summoned Torrent and headed off in the direction of Vale.

...

..

.

I overestimated how far it was to Vale. It was now going on a week, and Vale's walls were finally in sight. The girl, however, never woke up. She had died due to smoke inhalation. By the time I noticed her condition, it was far too late. The toxic fumes in her system acted like a poison that killed her in her sleep. So I had to backtrack to the town and bury her where the remains of her family were.

As I got close to the gates, I found a peculiar man and woman waiting for me. The male had white hair with streaks of grey while wearing a green suit with a cane and a cup in his hands. The female was a young, busty blonde with a skirt, tight shirt, and a purple cape. I had long since gotten off of Torrent, but something tells me that they knew about him.

As I cautiously walked towards the duo, I made sure to be as nonthreatening as possible. However, I made sure to be on guard for any tricks. Though from what I could see, the blonde was annoyed, and the man was curious. As I got closer, I could feel the air around the three of us begin to thicken with tension.

Just as I reached the two, the tension became thick enough to cut it with a knife. Not one of us spoke. We just stared into the eyes of the other. Then it became awkward.

It was quickly becoming more awkward the longer the silence went on.

Finally, I moved and reached for my helmet. I could sense they tensed for a moment but relaxed a bit as they watched me remove my helm. As my helm slide off my head, I introduced myself.

.

"Evening," I started as soon as my helmet was off. "I'm Brass Wolf, a Wandering Hunter."

"Hello," The man then stepped forward, "I am Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon Academy. And this is my Deputy Headmistress, Glynda Goodwitch."

"Sir, Ma'am," I nodded my head. "What do I owe the pleasure of your meeting with me?"

"It's not every day that I meet a fellow Sorcerer," Ozpin spoke as if he was talking about the weather. "Especially, not after several centuries where magic has disappeared."

"I see," I spoke as I studied his face and Glynda's to see if they were lying, however, I found no traces of such a thing.
