Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Charge Point +1

"That's good enough, maybe you should start believing in the Goddess of Luck," Chris nodded and sincerely suggested.

"Definitely next time."

Lor responded, then changed the subject and asked, "Is it still chaotic outside? If it's not, I would like to go to the nearby fishing village to collect some fish."

"It's still a bit chaotic. I suggest you go out in a couple of days."

Chris waved his hand, "If you encounter two or three thugs, I can't guarantee I can protect you."

"Alright, let's wait a few more days then." Lor agreed gracefully.

Anyway, it would be at least another six months before the wizards came, so he wasn't in a rush.

...

Three days later.

The small town had basically restored order, and the residents didn't even have much sadness.

After all, those people were not dead; they were taken into the Divine Kingdom by the gods.

Early in the morning, Lor called Chris to accompany him and went to the carriage shop to hire three cargo carriages and three carters, heading towards a small fishing village three kilometers away.

It only took about ten minutes for the group to reach the entrance of the small fishing village.

The commotion they caused upon arrival had already alarmed the village, which originally had only 1,000 people and now had only about 400 left.

An elderly man with white hair came forward, followed by four middle-aged men, cautiously looking at the three carriages parked at the village entrance.

"Grandfather Garcia, long time no see!" Lor jumped off the carriage, smiling as he greeted.

The old man, seeing that it was Lor who jumped down from the carriage, immediately let out a long sigh of relief and asked,

"Little Lor, have you come alone this time? Have your parents already entered the Divine Kingdom?"

"Yes, the God of Wealth has taken both my parents, leaving only me behind," Lor said with a regretful expression on his face.

"No need to feel regret, child,"

Garcia smiled kindly and said,

"The God of Wealth left you because he needs you to create more wealth for him on earth."

"When your days are over, the gods will definitely bring your soul into the Divine Kingdom."

"Yes, I firmly believe that day will certainly come." Lor seemed comforted, the regret on his face vanished, replaced by a brilliant smile:

"My purpose in coming here today is to create wealth and fulfill the will of the gods."

At this time in history, for the lower class, the majesty of the gods was still profound, and putting on an act was very necessary.

"Roraya Village always welcomes your arrival."

Garcia nodded solemnly, and welcomed Lor and his party into the village, asking as they walked,

"How many pounds of fish do you plan to collect this time?"

"Hmm..." Lor pondered for a moment and gave a reply, "Let's start with 3,000 pounds."

This time he mainly came to see if this era had many live fish containing trace elements, collecting fish was just incidental.

"Alright, come with me." Upon hearing this number, Garcia was somewhat disappointed.

But he understood, after all, Lor was just starting to take over his parents' business, and collecting 3,000 pounds of fish was already pretty good.

He immediately led the group to a large fish pond by the sea, giving a few instructions to the four middle-aged men behind him.

They went to the pond, raised a net, and dozens of fish of various sizes were netted, then placed into wooden barrels piled on the shore.

They then picked up sticks, ready to kill the fish jumping lively in the barrels.

"Wait a minute!"

Lor immediately stopped them, meeting their puzzled looks with a smile and explained,

"I've never knocked fish before, why not let me try knocking a few first?"

"Of course, you can."

Garcia beckoned to a man, who handed the stick to Lor.

Taking the stick, Lor weighed it in his hand, finding it somewhat heavy.

Which was normal, as a light stick wouldn't easily kill a large fish weighing dozens of pounds.

He quickly walked to a barrel, gazing intently, and in the large barrel with more than ten fish, three were emitting a faint blue glow.

"A probability of one in five, the Elemental Energy in this era's Wizard Main Plane is really abundant!" Lor thought to himself with a silent sigh.

In his past life, when he first began playing "Light of Truth," the Wizard Main Plane was almost ruined.

Out of a hundred sea fish, there wouldn't even be one containing trace elements.

But in some other planes occupied by wizards, the Elemental Energy was very abundant, even far exceeding the current level.

"Bang——"

Amid his delight, Lor struck a stick on a small fish exuding a faint blue light, weighing about three pounds.

The panel didn't display any prompts, which clearly indicated that the fish wasn't dead yet.

"Bang——"

With another strike, a faint blue virtual light screen finally appeared to him.

"Is it because the fish is too small, so there's less trace elements stored?"

Lor frowned; although he expected it, he was still inevitably dissatisfied with the number.

"Let's try killing one more." This time, he specifically picked a fish about seven pounds.

"Bang bang bang——"

With each rise and fall of the stick, another fish perished beneath the stick.

It was indeed a bit more, but the trace element growth still couldn't keep up with the increase in fish weight.

"Seems like that's really all there is," Lor sighed.

One fish only added a fraction of a percent, it would take nearly three hundred fish to fill up the progress bar.

Based on the current trading method, it averaged out that he'd need to buy 5,000 pounds of fish to gather one charge point.

Buying 5,000 pounds of fish required five Gold Coins.

He would then process them into salted fish, sell them to the caravans, it would take a month's effort to earn back eight Gold Coins, a complete waste of time.

This can't continue.

"Grandfather Garcia, I want to change the trading method, is that okay?" Lor put down the stick and returned to Garcia to ask.

"How do you want to change it?" Garcia was a bit puzzled, "This is how we've always traded."

"I want to personally select the fish I need..."

Lor just said one sentence, seeing Garcia frown as if he wasn't happy, quickly added:

"Of course, the price will double, for every ten pounds of fish, I can give you two Copper Coins."

Two Copper Plates for ten pounds of fish, though the price doubled, but all are fish containing trace elements.

Calculating it roughly, only about 1,000 pounds of fish are needed to trade for one charge point, which is just two Gold Coins.

Processed into salted fish, he could even earn a Gold Coin and five Silver Coins back.

The capital he had was enough to support him messing around for another half year.

"Fine." Garcia's face returned to a cheerful expression:

"You can take your time selecting the fish in the pond, I'll have Hagwin accompany you."

Although he wasn't clear on what exactly this young fellow was thinking, selling the fish for more money was a good thing, so he didn't pay much attention to it.

He summoned the few middle-aged men still standing by the fishpond over, gave them a few instructions, left one behind, and then departed.

Watching Garcia leave, Lor immediately pulled Hagwin along to start selecting fish, knocking fish, and gathering charge points.

The fish knocked dead were placed on the carriages by Chris and a few carters as they prepared to take them back and make salted fish.

...

[Charge complete, charge point +1]

After continuously knocking nearly three hundred fish, Lor smiled in satisfaction upon seeing the charge point +1 prompt on the panel.
