Fury gave orders to his agents to find Loki while Kakashi gave his own orders to the hounds.
Tony's voice cut through the tense silence on the Helicarrier. "I might have found where Loki is."
Every head turned toward him at once. Tony flicked his wrist and a large holographic screen appeared in the middle of the ruined deck.
The image showed the top floor of Stark Tower. Loki stood in the centre, wearing his golden horned helmet and green cape. He looked straight at the camera, gave a slow mocking wave, and smiled like a cat who had caught the mouse.
Tony's face was hard. "He is currently in my tower and waving at me."
Kakashi did not wait for anyone to speak. "I will go ahead."
He vanished. No flash, no sound, just gone.
On the Helicarrier, Steve Rogers stared at the empty spot where Kakashi had stood. He blinked several times. "Was that man an illusion?"
Tony let out a short laugh. "No, Cap. He was very real. That, my friend, was teleportation. Welcome to the new era."
He had already scanned Kakashi with every sensor in the suit the moment he arrived. Infrared, ultraviolet, electromagnetic, everything. There was no device, no power source, no hidden tech. Just a man who could step out of reality and step back in somewhere else. Tony hated not understanding things, and right now he understood nothing.
Steve shook his head slowly. "It really is a new era if a person can teleport. Back in my time that was only in storybooks. I cannot believe he took down Hulk, the other monster, and Hawkeye before I even reached this deck. Hawkeye alone gave me a lot of trouble."
Tony muttered under his breath. "Neither can I, Cap. Neither can I."
Natasha, who had been quietly checking the unconscious agents, spoke up. "A ride would not have been bad."
Tony's helmet flipped up and he gave her a small grin. "I would not mind experiencing real teleportation either."
Nick Fury stepped forward, coat swirling. "You can all take the jet to New York. Loki needs to be dealt with once and for all. While I have confidence with Agent Hound, he might need support."
'Oh clever bastard. He said agent hound to specify that the guy works for him. This would make us interested in SHIELD and their plan too.' Tony thought
Tony's mask snapped shut. "I will fly in my suit. See you there."
Thor lifted Mjolnir and lightning crackled around him. "I will follow you, Man of Tin."
The two shot into the sky.
Natasha walked straight to the pilot seat of the waiting quinjet. She looked at Fury and with a few gestured converted that she would give the report of their space trip later when the matter was dealt with.
Steve and Bruce followed her inside. Creel glanced at the sleeping Clint Barton, worried, but Fury shook his head.
"Leave Barton. He earned his rest. Kakashi is back, I don't think we would need Barton right now."
What was left unsaid was that, if there was something that Kakashi could not deal with, Barton would not provide much help. Fury had a lot of confidence in Kakashi's abilities.
Creel and Blonsky climbed aboard. The jet engines roared and the aircraft rose into the air, racing toward New York City.
--New York--
Kakashi appeared in a swirl of distorted space on a rooftop three blocks away the Stark tower. That was the closest fuinjutsu marker he had placed months ago.
He immediately used body flicker and shot across the rooftops, leaping from building to building. The wind whipped his silver hair as he moved faster than the eye could follow.
In less than thirty seconds he stood at the base of Stark Tower. He looked up at the top.of the building and leapt straight up the side of the building, using chakra to stick to the glass. He reached the penthouse level in moments.
He stepped through the broken window and into the luxurious top floor. Lights were low. The city sparkled far below.
A smooth voice greeted him. "Welcome, Kakashi Hatake."
Loki became visible in the centre of the room. He wore his full battle armour and held the glowing scepter loosely in one hand.
His smile was wide and confident, but Kakashi saw the truth in his eyes. Anger and fear flickered there, memories of the last time they fought, when Kakashi had left him broken and was about to kill him until Odin interferred.
Loki's fingers tightened on the scepter. The fake confidence returned as he saw the weapon that would even the odds was with him.
"Die, you pathetic worm." Loki said
The tip of the scepter glowed bright blue. A beam of pure energy shot toward Kakashi's chest.
Kakashi knew that an earth wall would not stop that attack. He did not move his feet. He simply let his body become intangible. The beam passed straight through him and blasted a hole in the wall behind. Smoke and dust filled the air.
Loki fired again and again. Each blast went through empty space. Kakashi walked forward slowly, hands in his pockets.
"Is that the Mind Stone in your toy?" Kakashi asked calmly. "It has very strong energy."
Loki's teeth ground together. He raised the scepter for a bigger attack.
A silky female voice stopped him. "Now now, Loki. You promised you would not kill him. He is mine."
Amora the Enchantress stepped out from the shadows. Her long blonde hair moved. Her green dress hugged every curve. She smiled like a predator who had finally cornered her prey.
Kakashi's visible eye narrowed. "Enchantress. I have no time for you."
Amora's smile grew wider. Her eyes began to glow bright blue, the same colour as the Mind stone.
"Oh, you will have plenty of time for me after I am done with you."
