Edmund's POV
The look of her saddened face staring at the cabin as we drove away broke my heart.
"Sorry we had to cut our stay short," I apologised.
She shook her head and put on a small smile that failed to deceive me. "We had to leave anyway."
I almost wanted to turn the car around when she pouted. We had ample stock supplies anyway. Yet, I could not.
There was a blizzard warning that might cause us to be stranded for months if we did not evacuate sooner. With the weak signal and its remote location deep in the forest on the mountain top, I fear that I failed to provide her the medical needs she might require should she fall sick or lose her memory again.
"Next time," I promised her with a nudge, wanting to cheer her up.
She forced a smile and continued staring at the window.
