Edmund's POV
"This is my present for you. If ever you needed a place to escape to, this is your safe haven."
Her jaw dropped.
"W-wait a minute!" She stuttered, still staring at the piece of paper with her name on it. "Y-you… I mean, a-are you saying you th-this place b-belongs to me?"
"Yes."
I watched her gulp down a large amount of air, fumbling to stand straight. I extended my arms, supported her weight and guided her to take a seat on the sofa.
"W-why? I think it's b-best that you change the owner."
She had a frightened look in her eyes and I wondered if I could ever convince her ever that she meant the world to me.
"You are the only one I wanted to gift this to."
"I mean, y-you're aware I can't give you an heir, right?"
Her voice was shaky, her body trembled. But it did not register in my head just yet.
"And?"
She groaned. The slapping of her forehead with her palm echoed throughout the cellar, as though I was the one who did not understand her.
