Chapter 9 - Don't Be Afraid of Change

There was nothing the goblin king or myself could do. As we all watched the glowing purple pendant going under the muddy quicksand near the tree fort.

Then, it was almost too late to do anything to save the necklace. When suddenly a furry squirrel started digging in the muddy ground. It grabbed hold of the glowing purple pendant in its mouth. And hurried away from the party goers from the Alive at Midnight Mansion.

The goblin king and myself watched from the window as the children started running after the brown, furry squirrel into the woods. But the kids were suddenly stopped. When unexpectedly, a group of middle-aged adults stepped into their way.

It was our parents who came to see what was happening to us. Some of the Dads carried baseball bats in their hands using them like weapons. The party-goers quickly felt relieved to see their parents came to their rescue!

They started to hurry to hug their Mom and Dad. I turned and watched the goblin boy climb out of the tree fort window. I didn't want to explain the grown-ups what we were doing.

Mom and Dad wouldn't believe me we were trying to stop a Halloween curse from turning us into wild party animals for real. They wouldn't believe any of it. Even if they saw I was some kind of monster in a costume, they wouldn't believe what was going on here.

The more I wanted to get away from Supernaturalville, I knew I couldn't let anybody see me like this. There must be something the goblin king kept in his experiments in his lab to help return to my normal self. I had to find something to defend my life with.

While the parents were confronting the kids from the Halloween party, I was frantically searching the lab equipment for something to help me get my normal adorable self back.

I didn't have a lot of time. I think if I let Halloween know I'm not afraid of not being myself for one magical night, I wouldn't mind being a monster. But my family comes from a religious beliefs. They wouldn't understand being different is sometimes better for the person.

My lizard tail knocked something off the lab table. I curiously turned around to look under the table, where I dropped the object. I saw it was something hard and white. And bloody!

I gasped when I saw what I had dropped from the experiment lab table - a human bone! I was shocked at what was under the table. I cautiously bend down and picked it up.

The red blood on the bone seemed fresh. It looked like it was used for some kind of doggie treat. But I wasn't sure. It started to glow white in my hands. I dropped it. Because the blood was kind of slimy and sticky.

After proving myself it wasn't something to worry about, I bend down and picked up the glowing bone on the floor. I sniffed it and looked at closely some more.

Before I knew what was going on next. I was slowly turning invisible... And disappeared before my very eyes...!
