Training The Next Generation
***Arin's POV***
Just in front of me, the twelve-year-old girl caught fire. As orange fire danced across her skin, she cried out, "Help! I can't stop it!"
Without thinking, I hurried forward. I discovered that sometimes being a Luna meant doing scary things to help others, even though most people would have been terrified to touch someone who was literally on fire. I put my arms around Ember and said, "It's okay, Ember. I've got you."
I wasn't burned, but the flames felt warm. I sensed her confusion and fear through our touch. Why fire was shooting out of her hands was a mystery to her.
Calmly, I said, "Breathe with me. In and out. Steadily and slowly."
The flames dimmed as Ember's breathing slowed. They vanished entirely in a matter of seconds.
"How did you do that?" inquired River, another young wolf. Even though he was only ten, he had the ability to become invisible when he felt threatened.
