The Rebirth of the Moonwell
***Arin's POV**
Under my feet, the ground exploded. As pieces of rock and dirt flew like bullets into the air, I seized little Luna. Just seconds before, the Moonwell had been glowing calmly, but now it was hissing and bubbling like a vengeful volcano.
"What's happening?" Luna clung to my shirt and screamed.
I wish I had known. We had arrived in the hopes that the holy spring would clarify her prophecy that I would be the "daughter of the Void." Rather, everything went crazy as soon as I got close to the water.
"Come back, everyone!" I shouted to the pack members and other children who had followed us.
However, it was too late. The Moonwell's water became as dark as night and began to rise like a liquid-dark tornado. The leaves on the first tree withered and died immediately upon contact.
Elder Mava appeared next to me, her bone jewelry rattling, and said, "The Moonwell is dying. And it's taking the forest with it."
