Chapter 1 - Prologue 0.1 – The Very Beginning.

Step!

Slowly I enter this massive room, one that didn't seem to be this big from the outside. However, from all the things that I had to go through to get here, I probably should've been expecting something like this. But before going any further, I will have a quick look around.

"Who knows, someone or something might be waiting to greet me."

I say it with hopes that there is nothing of that sort, I really don't want to get into a dangerous situation in an unfamiliar place like this. I look towards my left; I only see a massive wall with easily 100 meters of length and another 5 or so of height. Half of said wall is coloured in a snow-white like colour, one that shines quite brightly, the other half on the other hand, it is coloured in a golden like colour and this one, somehow seems to shine even more. I then look towards my right and the same thing happens, but I did notice that the materials used in the walls are something akin to marble, a smooth stone that shines a bit more than a normal stone. Although in this case it seems to be a little too excessive. I then look backwards, maybe there is something ready to scare me…

"Wait, the door is gone? How did this happen?"

This of course shocked me, a little more than it should. Not because I was not expecting something like this to happen, after all, I'm in an unfamiliar place, but more so because I didn't feel or heard whatever happened to the door behind me. But as I was questioning myself and my possible lack of hearing, a possibility quickly crossed my mind.

"Did I get teleported here the moment I went past the door? That can explain why the door is gone, but how can such a thing happen and I don't even notice it?"

Normally when you open a door, it does not matter what shape, size, thickness it is, you expect it to function as a door should. A door is an object made to keep your home, school, workplace, no matter what it is, it's meant to keep the inside safe from the outside. When you open it, it exposes said home for example, to the very world but at the same time, it allows you to enter your own home. When something like this happens to me, I start to question my own powers, especially when I'm the Hero. How come, the Hero gets teleported and yet, he's ignorant to such an event? The strongest that mankind can offer and yet, he was unable to even sense being teleported away when he stepped in the damn room.

"There must be an explanation for this, something that I am missing..."

That's obvious, but I do try to think back, maybe I did see or felt something but somehow decided to "let it go" because it was too insignificant. After a few seconds of doing so, I'm unable to think of anything. Too bad then, better keep my guard up so that next time I don't miss it. After this I switch my gaze towards forward and what I see somewhat does not surprise me as much as I was expecting it, after all, it was the first thing that I saw when I got in. What I see are stairs, a set of it, maybe ten in total? They are a bit far from me to tell the exact number however, one thing I can say for sure, they are quite wide, I will say at around 10 meters wide? Close to it, at the end of it, a door stands there right in the middle of "nothing". Said door is made of wood, simple looking it seems but with a few decorations carved on it. Too far for me to say anything else about it, but the door is not even connected to a wall, that's why I said it is in the middle of nothing.

"Hmm, this does look quite exquisite to be fair. It is as if I'm climbing up to meet someone important, fancy, royal even. If it wasn't for that random door that is."

There is a laid-out path to said stairs, one with an expensive looking carpet on it. This carpet is made of a fabric that I've never seen until now, not only looks extremely well done, it also seems to have magic on it as it sparks here and there. Coloured mainly in red, a soft bright red in this case, with stripes roughly 5 centimetres of width on each side, these stripes are the same golden like colour as the walls. The stairs also have said carpet but, in this case, it does cover the entirety of the stairs, something that it does not do in the rest of the room. I also noticed several pillars next to the carpet, they are positioned in a geometric way, three on each side totalling six of them before the set of stairs start. They seem to be separated by at least 5 meters from each other. Not only that, I also noticed that the carpet also seems to be around 5 meters wide.

"I can't stay here just looking at the scene, I have to get moving. There is a reason for why I came here after all."

After saying this to the world for some reason, I get ready to move, however the moment I actually take a step forward the same thing happens.

Magic noises!

Out of nowhere the lights went out, leaving me in the darkness, but this time around I did feel something when it happened, a little bit of magic in this case.

"It seems I was teleported once again."

I let out my thoughts into the world but this time, I'm in the middle of the darkness so not much has changed really, there still isn't anyone here to listen to me. Although, while I say I'm in the middle of darkness that does not mean I'm free falling into the abyss for example, I'm not floating either, in fact, I do feel a solid floor below me. Since I've confirmed that I can keep going I decide to get my feet moving, but since I cannot see a damn thing, I have to be extremely careful where I put my feet.

"However, this is nothing that I can't deal with, with a simple spell."

As I confidently say this, I raise my left arm towards roughly chest height but all the way extended forward, not only that, I also face the palm of my hand upwards.

"Illuminate my path! Fire Light!"

Magic noises! Fire noises!

At the top of the palm of my hand a red circle appears, one that has a few inscriptions on it, ones that describe what the circle will do. This circle is around 10 centimetres in diameter and this is what we call a Magic Circle. It's mainly used to unleash spells into the world, the one in my case, it will unleash a Pyro spell, a Fire spell in other words. It will create a small fire ball from it. This fire ball is roughly the same size as the magic circle, however it's more than enough to illuminate the area around me, allowing me to confirm whether I was teleported or not, after all, the lights can go out and I'm still in the same place. But I quickly ate my words as this spell is completely useless in this situation.

"Unbelievable, I really was teleported somewhere else. Not only was it done in an instant, I also didn't feel that much magic at all when it happened. Also, why isn't my spell illuminating my surroundings?"

I say it with a somewhat surprised look on my face, though I quickly change to a worried one as I start to ponder what I will face once I meet the owner of this place. Not only can he teleport me to wherever he wants to, he does so without me noticing, or close to it. The darkness around me, on the other hand, is also not normal at all. I should be able to at the very least illuminate the ground near me and yet, I still can't see what is that I'm standing on. Although, I can now see a door further down the darkness, so my spell wasn't all that useless, I guess.

"Not much I can do for now; I just need to keep moving forward towards the door in front of me."

Even though I've changed places, the objective still remains the same. To enter the door further down the path. Without much time to waste, I start to get moving. Each of my slow and careful footsteps seems to hit a stone floor, or is it concrete? In these conditions I cannot make out where I'm walking on but that also does not matter. However, my footsteps do echo throughout the darkness which tells me that I am indeed inside of some sort of giant room, otherwise it wouldn't be echoing if the room was small or if I was outside. Slowly, but surely, I get closer and closer to the door, and after a minute or so of walking, I am right in front of it.

"A little bit anticlimactic if I'm honest, I sure was expecting for something to jump out of the darkness towards me."

I say this with a joking tone of voice, but in reality, I am a little bit relieved. Having something creeping around the darkness does give me the shivers. I mean, I'm quite confident about my own strength and magic power but that does not mean I cannot get scared, you know? Moving on, the door is right in front me so no point in thinking about that. I do hope nothing is behind me though…
