"I'm... I'm sorry!" she quickly apologized, though the pain in her wrist and the pounding in her head had finally eased a little.
"Why did you touch me? And why did you call me that name, Rachel? Do you really have no feelings for me at all?" His eyes locked onto her, sharp and unrelenting.
Her face shifted from pale to flushed red. "You... you misunderstood!"
"Misunderstood?" He suddenly let out a low laugh. "Then explain. What kind of misunderstanding makes you call me by my nickname over and over and even touch my face?"
She bit her lip, not knowing how to respond. All she could manage was, "It's not what you think. I won't do it again. I just had a headache and accidentally mistook you for someone else."
"Mistook?" he repeated softly. "Is calling me Jarrett also a mistake?"
"There are plenty of people in this world named Jarrett, you know," she retorted.
