Chapter 11 - Escape 1

Unedited

Morgan exchanged clothes with Julie and quickly snuck out. She was grateful for the hoodie Julie wore, which she used to cover her head, then she pulled it down and lowered her face. There was no way anyone would know it's her, except they took a closer look,, and she wouldn't let anyone walk close to her.

The plan was simple: all she had to do was get out of the hospital. She knew Julie would be caught in no time. So she had to sneak out before then, drive her car off and wait at a cafe they agreed on.

Morgan looked around, taking note of her surroundings. A nurse was helping a woman seated in a wheelchair. Morgan passed them without a word. Aside from the fact that the trousers didn't quite get to her angle because she was taller than Julie. Nothing else could point to her being Ivanna.

Stopping in front of the elevator, Morgan stepped inside.

She has 36 minutes left.

She hopped off the elevator on the last floor and smiled, proud that she had successfully deceived everyone. There were more people on the last floor. Morgan turned around, she finally recognised the hospital.

She had been here in the past, when she was ill, but never got to go beyond the fifth floor. She finally realised that she couldn't recognise the hospital because she had been placed in a VVIP room.

The first huddle, which was to get to the last floor without anyone's notice, has been done successfully. Now, all she has to do is avoid the reporters who were at the entrance and get to Julie's car packed in the car log.

Things would have been easier if Julie had packed in the underground parking lot instead and saved herself from this stress.

Morgan dipped her hand in the pocket to ensure that the key was there. Taking the key off her trousers pocket, she kept it in her hoodie pocket, tucked it in her hand as she walked.

The key danced in her pocket with each step she took. When she was a few feet away from the exit, she passed. She watched as the door slid and people got in. Her heart rammed against her chest, she had to be lashed through the sea of reporters clamped at the side.

The reporters have refused to leave, and there was nothing the security of the company could do aside from ensuring they don't go into the company. The security created a barricade, but it didn't stop the reporters from shoving a microphone in the face of whoever was walking by.

Ivanna was slowly becoming a big deal, sensational, and they would happily have an exclusive about her.

Morgan took slow steps towards the exit. She pulled her cover close to her face and lowered her gaze so she was seeing just her eyes. When she got close to the door, it slid open, and she stepped out.

She sucked in a breathe. The reporters were on the side. "Breathe, Morgan, we just want to pass them."

She started walking, and she tried not to look suspicious, but that was to no avail. Her steps were slow and deliberate, but she kept looking around and hugging her cap of her hoodie, and the reporters were too focused on Ivanna to give her a second thought.

"Twenty more feet and we'll be done with ghis." She lifted her head a little to stare ahead as she spoke under her breath. Dropping her gaze, she hastened her steps.

Just then, her shoulders bumped into something hard. The man holding the microphone fell to the ground on his but. Quickly, Morgan extended her hand to the man, not taking note of the fact that he is a reporter, exposing her face.

The man picked up his microphone, took her hand and stood, "Are you alright?" Morgan asked in a voice drenched with concern. The man's eyes widened when he saw her face.

"It's Ivanna." He yelled behind his shoulders, hoping his partner, the one with the camera, would get here before the others. He held her hand.

"Huh!" Morgan was stunned. She had temporarily forgotten about her new name. Upon seeing the reporters rush towards her, she chanted under her breath.

"What happened? Are you and Liam truly a thing?" The man holding her down asked. The reporters were getting closer by the second.

Morgan stepped on the man's feet. He screamed and let go of her hand. She pushed him back, knocking down a few of the close reporters.

She took to her heels, running as fast as her legs could carry her. Stepping into the hospital, she placed one hand on her knees and one on her chest.

"What the fuck just happened?" She asked herself. The little drama had caught the attention of people. Slowly, she stood straight. The reporters were been held back by the security men.

"That was close." She tried to steady her breath.

But this was short-lived when she heard cameras clicking behind her. "Shit!" She cursed and wore her hoodie cap before walking towards the elevator, trying to cover her face.

Those who had recognised her had taken photos. Thankfully, she was able to get into the elevator before she was surrounded.

Morgan leaned towards one side of the elevator. Her entire body was trembling. Her throat felt dry, she shouldn't be here. She was so close to leaving. Why did she decide to help that reporter? Only for him to pay her like that.

She gritted her teeth and passed her hand over her hair, frustrated.

The elevator dinged. She stepped out. She felt at peace to know she was back in the hallway, which had only one doctor walking down. She was amazed at the serenity here, far different from what she had just experienced.

Ding!

[System notification - you have 25 mins more.]

[Attempted failure- The host was almost caught by reporters. You were meant to avoid them, not walk into them.

I am in no mood to be reprimanded by you," Morgan stated. Then she added, "Tell me, is the task still in?" She was caught by my reporter.

Ding!

[No, the host still has 23 mins to get the task completed.]

Okay.

Now she would just come up with a beer plan.

That moment, her Slade came into view. She paused. "Ivy." He called. She shook her head. No, she couldn't possibly do this.

Jeremy stepped out from the hallway by the side and was beside Slade in a minute. They had all been searching for her.

Jeremy had found the test room empty, and he didn't need to wait long before Julie told him about her disappearance. They had been worried sick, searching for her all over.

Morgan turned and ran into the nearest hallway. If they get her, then she won't be able to leave. She can't afford that. She had to live.

"Morgan!" Jeremy and Slade said at the same time and went after her. Neither of them could understand why getting out of the hospital was important to her.

Morgan, on the other hand, got into an elevator, saw the end, and punched the keys without looking.

She was conflicted as she watched the elevator close. Which was the best, with the reporters? Or with her brother and husband?

The elevator dinged, coming to a stop. She stepped out.

To her surprise, the elevator had led her to the underground parking lot. She walked out of the elevator. There were rows of cars.

The entire place was brightened by a white bulb which hung around.

Morgan Bevan was making her way across the underground parking lot, hoping that she'd come out through the exit and get a cab.

She heard the engine of a car roar, and one

of the cars moved towards her.

It stopped in front of her. "Get in, Ivanna." A voice called.
