Chapter 10 - This is a bad idea

When Morgan heard the word, she sprang up from where she was seated and walked to the window. "Where?' she asked, looking down. But they were on the last floor, so she couldn't see anyone.

"What's going on? What's up with the reporters being here?" Slade asked, walking towards her.

Jeremy looked at him from the corner of his eyes, "You can't seriously be asking that."

"If reporters are here, I won't be able to leave, and I can't fail this task," Morgan muttered under her breath.

"How did they know she was here ?" Jeremy didn't look as distressed as Morgan, and he turned to ask Morgan.

"It must be from Liam's post," Julie replied. "He made a post about Ivanna being sick."

"Why would he do that?" Jeremy clenched his fist. He wasn't aware of Liam's liking towards Ivanna.

Slade placed his hand on the small of Morgan's back and led her back to bed.

He couldn't understand why it was so important to her. He was trying to be a good husband.

"It doesn't matter, I'll send men to send them away." He offered.

Morgan's face brightened. She looked relieved as she watched Slade walk to the side of the room with his phone placed on his ear.

"The doctor will be here soon." Julie had barely said the word when the door opened and the doctor stepped into the room..

"Miss Ivanna, how are you feeling?" He asked, and his eyes widened when he saw her sitting on the bed, kicking her legs back and forth.

She had just regained consciousness this morning, she shouldn't be sitting already, let alone looking bright.

His steps closed, and he watched her closely, "You shouldn't be seated." He said softly.

"Oh, hey, doc," Jeremy said. He and Julie were standing on both sides of Morgan.

"I need to go." She said to the doctor, who walked closer and placed his palm on her head. She smiled sweetly at him, notwithstanding the way his brows drew together.

"I'm better now." She said, watching the doctor scribble something on the file he was holding.

"No, you are not my dear." He said to her, "You do look better," he began, then looked over to Jeremy. He cleared his throat, willing himself to maintain the confidence he was putting on.

"But it's too soon for you to be standing and all…" he moved his file in a circular motion.

"In all my years of medical career, I have never seen anyone work up and become so active in such a short amount of time." He stated.

Morgan wasn't surprised, she had been rewarded with healing boosts. However, the same could not be said of the others. After the doctor uttered those words, Jeremy and Julie realised that he was right.

She shouldn't be so strong; she looked healthy, healthier than she was before she came to the hospital.

Slade returned at that moment, having heard the doctor's words.

Morgan lowered her gaze, there was no way she'd be exposing her system. Not that they'd believe her.

"Well, miracles do happen, right…" she raised her eyes and stopped at the doctor, "doctor?" She asked, batting her lashes, to look cute.

"Well, well…" the doctor stuttered.

"True," he agreed, then went on, " I'll come back after scheduling the test." She shook her head.

"No, I can't take the test, I have to leave now. I can come back for the test tomorrow." But the doctor shook his head, her charm wasn't working.

Morgan moved her eyes to Jeremy's, but he shook his head, 'I'm with the doctor on this." Even Julie was too.

"The test would last for five hours. If you're all good, then you'll be discharged." The doctor said, looking from her to Slade,, who he assumed was ready to contradict his advice for his wife.

Slade nodded, then spoke, "Alright," to Morgan, he said, "surely we can wait for five hours." When he saw that the displeasure wasn't leaving her eyes, he added, "If you can make it snappy, so we leave earlier, it would be appreciated, doctor." He said.

Morgan felt like screaming, why was no one listening to her?

After the doctor left, Jeremy placed a kiss on her cheeks and asked her to leave, too. He walked after the doctor, speaking to him about Morgan.

Julie looked between Morgan and Slade, then she turned, wanting to quietly leave, but Morgan stopped her.

"Jules, stay with me for a little while." There was no way they were leaving her with Masks when she barely knew him.

"Huh?" Ivanna loved spending time alone with Slade. She was surprised she asked her to stay.

"Alright," she said, and walked to the couch. She sat and looked away from them to give them privacy.

"The reporters will be removed from the premises in the next three hours, I think we'll have enough time."

Morgan tried not to scoff at the way he said, "removed" like they were items to be moved.

But then the word sank in, "three hours!" She asked, and he nodded.

"No, that won't do. That won't do at all." She paced around, biting on her nails.

There was no way she could wait for three hours. She wasn't going to wait.

No, she won't.

She had to think of another option.

Slade took her hand in his and sat with her on the bed. He trailed her thumb with his.

"What are you doing?" She moved her hands away from him. "I'm sorry about the past weeks, I'll make it up to you when we get home." He said.

"Fine. Can we talk about this later?" She asked, "I really need to speak to Julie." She looked at his eyes. he was a bit confused at her request, "I can wait while you talk."

"In private, I want to speak to her in private."

After Slade left, Morgan beacons for Julie.

"Where do I stay?" Since they had refused to help her leave the hospital, she decided to leave alone.

"Surely there's no way you forgot about your house, too." Julie tried to laugh off her question, but seeing how serious she was, she stopped.

"Wait, are you serious?" She asked, and Morgan nodded.

"You live with Mr. Redmond." She replied. Morgan's eyes widened. She lived with Masks?

"Can you take me to your house? I want to stay with you." Julie moved from one foot to another. There was no way she could do that

"Why? You can't?" She asked. Julie exhaled, "That's not possible. Your brothers won't agree." She warned.

"They won't know about it," Morgan said, mischievously tugging her lips. "I'm leaving without their notice."

Julie shook her head, "That's not possible."

"It is because you'll help me. And I also have to avoid the reporters." Julie's face turned white with fear.

There was no way she'd do this and risk getting killed by the Redmond brothers.

"I can't, I think it would be best if you stayed and had the test done."

"I can't."

"Why?" Julie asked.

"Because… well …" she avoided Julie's gaze. "I can't tell you my reason right now, but I promise to tell you." She raised her hand and placed it on her chest. She held Julie's eyes.

"Jules, I'll make it up for you. Help me this once." Morgan pleaded, seeing the hesitation in her eyes.

"What will we tell your brothers, if they find out, they won't let this go." She said.

"I'll take care of my brothers." Even Julie could tell that Ivanna wasn't so sure, but she decided to trust her and take her word for it.

"Fine." She said.

"What's the plan?" Morgan chewed her lower lip; she had been thinking about a plan. "I don't have one yet." She said, and her lower lips disappeared into her mouth one more time.

"Then how do we go about this?" Julie asked.

Before Morgan could reply, the door opened, and a nurse stepped inside holding a new dress for her to change into.

"Jules, I think I just thought I'd found something. Do you have a car?

"Yes."

"Did you bring your car?" Julie nodded.

"Come with me." He reached for her arms, "I'll be back," she said to the nurse, and then she excused herself and pulled Julie into the bathroom.

"Here's what we'll do." She leaned into Julie and whispered in her ear. When they got back to the room, she wore the new patient dress and winked at Julie, who tried to smile but her lips trembled.

She couldn't help but keep asking herself if she had just signed her death warrant. Morgan's plan was dangerous.

Morgan walked behind the nurse, taking note of her surroundings.

Ding!

[System Notification - Reminder]

[You have 45 mins more.]

Why was the time going so fast? Morgan wondered, but she consoled herself with the thought that she would soon be out. Her plan would be successful. She can't lose this system. Most importantly, she didn't want to die.

Fifteen minutes later, Julie is seated in Morgan's place in the test

room, wearing her hospital gown and staring at her feet while her heart thudded against her chest.

She held her breath as the door opened.

This was a bad idea.
