Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

The next day, Rowan took Sienna around to get familiar with the area and to buy some furniture and household items from nearby villages.

Two days passed quickly. After they finished organizing the house, they planned to invite Rowan's teammates over for a meal. Rowan used the last day of his vacation to host the gathering. When the wives of his teammates arrived to help, they saw Rowan busy washing vegetables and preparing food.

Sienna was sitting properly on a small bench nearby, snacking on some homemade treats. Cuilan had prepared those for her, knowing she'd need something to pass the time while Rowan was training.

The wives who saw this scene couldn't help but think that their own husbands should take a look and learn from Rowan. At home, their men acted like lords, doing nothing at all.

"You're here!" Rowan greeted.

Meilin, speaking on behalf of the others, said, "Yeah, we came to help out. Thought you might be too busy."

Brandon and Rowan were close friends, and over time, the rest of the group had also become familiar. Since they often went on missions together, trusting each other with their lives, Meilin and Rowan got along well, as did Teacher Yuxia. However, Teacher Yuxia couldn't come that day because it was Friday and she was teaching at school—she was a primary school teacher.

"Ladies, this is my wife, Sienna. Why don't you sit and relax with her? I can handle this myself."

He turned and introduced them to Sienna. "Sienna, this is Meilin, Brandon's wife. This is Juanna, this is Fanna, and…"

Sienna listened and then greeted them politely, "Hello, everyone. I'm Sienna, just call me that."

After introductions, Rowan led them inside and brought out some sunflower seeds and candy, asking them to relax inside the house.

They couldn't really help in the kitchen anymore. They had originally thought Sienna would be cooking and they came to assist her, but since Rowan was doing the cooking, it didn't feel right to jump in.

Meilin did think about helping. Normally, when they all had meals together, whoever was free would help cook. But since this was a larger gathering with more guests, it was better to avoid any misunderstandings.

The group sat in the house, feeling a bit awkward. Sienna didn't notice anything wrong—she wasn't very emotionally sensitive at the moment, so she didn't realize their discomfort.

Eventually, Meilin broke the silence. "Sienna, how did you and Rowan meet? I asked Brandon, but he wouldn't tell me anything."

"We're from the same village. My parents and his parents have always been close."

"Really? So you two have known each other since childhood. Childhood sweethearts then."

"Hmm, I guess so."

The other wives joined the conversation. "We used to wonder what kind of woman he'd marry. Turns out he found a little fairy."

While they chatted, time passed quickly. The men who had been training came back and arrived at Rowan's house, bringing extra tables, benches, and dishes.

When they walked in and saw all the women sitting there chatting and snacking, they were a bit confused. Weren't they supposed to be helping?

After setting things down, they went to the kitchen and found Rowan cooking.

"Rowan, what are you doing?" asked Brandon.

They clearly didn't plan to let them live peacefully. And now, with someone who can cook so well, it's guaranteed his ears won't get any rest for a while.

Rowan rolled his eyes. "Are you blind? Can't you see I'm cooking? What were you planning to eat then, air? Hurry up and help carry the dishes. It's almost time to eat."

"Alright, coming!"

Once the food was ready, Rowan took out two bottles of wine and called everyone to sit down. He also brought Sienna over to sit with him.

They set up two tables—one for the men, and another for the women and children.

Once everyone was seated, Rowan said, "Let's begin. Everyone's here."

Except for when he was drinking, Rowan spent most of the meal taking care of Sienna, making sure she ate enough, while also chatting with the others.

Then came a knock at the door. Felix glanced at the couple and got up to open it.

When he saw who was outside, he tried to shut the door, but the man blocked it and walked right in.

"Rowan, having a meal and not inviting me? That's not very nice." Everyone looked at him in silence.

Rowan ignored him and kept serving food to his wife, making sure she ate more.

Seeing how Rowan acted, the man got even angrier. Why should Rowan always be better than him? Even though he was promoted to deputy commander, his team didn't respect him. He believed he was no worse than Rowan.

Sienna could sense the hostility from this man toward her husband. She could feel the bad intentions.

"You didn't invite me, but I came anyway. Aren't you going to let me sit down and eat?"

"You said it yourself—you came uninvited. That name of yours really fits you well, Lai Gou," Rowan shot back.

"Come on, Rowan, don't be so harsh. I don't decide who gets promoted."

Sienna noticed Lai Gou was provoking Rowan on purpose. She put down her chopsticks and stared at him.

Lai Gou noticed her too. He had to admit, she was beautiful. He didn't expect Rowan to marry someone so pretty. Not like his own wife—big and tough, like a shrew.

"Wow, this must be your wife? So pretty. You're a lucky man, Rowan," he said, looking at Sienna with a disrespectful gaze.

Everyone at the table looked upset. Rowan stood up, ready to act. Sienna pulled him back into his seat and stood up herself, walking behind Lai Gou.

The women at the other table watched as Sienna bent down and whispered in Lai Gou's ear, "What do you think? Am I pretty? Are you jealous of Rowan?"

No one understood what was going on. Some looked at Rowan. But before anyone could react, Sienna grabbed Lai Gou by the collar and threw him out the door.

Then she walked out too, with the others following behind. She walked up and kicked Lai Gou again, sending him crashing into the wall, which collapsed from the impact.

Before he could get up, Sienna stepped forward, grabbed his neck, and lifted him off the ground.

Lai Gou tried to struggle, but it was useless. Everyone watching saw how ruthless and silent Sienna was. Lai Gou, a 175 cm tall man and a trained soldier, had no chance to fight back. His life was completely in her hands.
