Chapter 182 - True Nature of Goblins

After everyone in the chat finished listening to Lilis's situation, they began to share their thoughts.

[Dongfang Huaizhu]: What exactly is a "Goblin"? From your description, Lilis, they sound like very weak creatures. So why worry about them?

[Raiden Ei]: Weak monsters themselves aren't a concern, but the "God's Dice", that's the key element.

[Marika]: Exactly. Since every event in Lilis's world is dictated by the roll of a god's dice, there's always the potential for failure, even against weak foes.

[Saeko Busujima]: It's like... even the strongest person could trip and die while walking, if the dice happen to roll an unlucky number.

[Akane Nishino]: Listening to you all, Lilis's world seems to have far too many uncertain variables.

[Lilis]: Yes! The god's dice make everything incredibly uncertain. While goblins are weak, any Porcelain-ranked adventurer can handle them but there's still a chance of things going wrong.

[Athena]: If they are "Goblins," they would be what we call "Gnomes" or "Earth Spirits".

[Saeko Busujima]: The archetype is indeed goblins, but these "Goblins" differ somewhat from the "Gnomes" Lady Athena understands.

[Akane Nishino]: That's right! "Goblins" are filthy, cunning, and disgusting creatures!

[Saeko Busujima]: From anime and films in my old world, most "Goblins" fit that image. I wonder if they're the same in Lilis's world.

[Lilis]: It's amazing you have descriptions of these creatures in your worlds as well. The multiverse truly is wondrous. And yes, the descriptions match to a large degree.

Lilis recalled her first encounters with those green-skinned, short, ugly monsters. They did inspire an instinctive disgust. Back then, however, she hadn't seen anything particularly special about them—they were so weak that she and her teammates had easily wiped them out. This led her to a dismissive, almost contemptuous attitude.

But now, knowing about the god's dice, she realized her attitude itself could lead to disaster.

[Yuki]: It's more than that. The "Goblins" in Lilis's world are ten times more evil, brutal, and disgusting than what you might imagine! They...

Yuki then proceeded to describe the goblins from Goblin Slayer, a work from his world, explaining their nature in detail. The goblins in that work were not only stronger but terrifying in many ways.

They existed in huge numbers and included many enhanced variants with specialized roles: Goblin Shamans who could use magic, hulking Goblin Champions, highly intelligent goblins who could master armor, swordsmanship, and shields like Paladins, and even Goblin Lords who commanded entire hordes and possessed power equivalent to Platinum-ranked adventurers.

This wide variety made goblins, as a whole, a formidable and terrifying force.

Of course, if that was all, it would merely mean they were a powerful faction.

But what made Yuki feel even more disgusted was that this goblin species consisted solely of males.

To reproduce, they frequently used traps, lures, or outright attacks on poorly defended villages to abduct human women, dragging them back to their nests to breed.

These kidnapped women, after enduring brutal violation by the goblins, were usually eaten alive. Those who survived were left with severe physical and psychological trauma.

After hearing Yuki's brief account, the other group members were thoroughly sickened.

[Seitenshi]: This... these goblins are actually that monstrous?

[Saeko Busujima]: That's disgusting! Abducting women to reproduce... isn't there supposed to be reproductive isolation between species?

[Akane Nishino]: Probably not. Judging by Yuki's description of their rapid reproduction, many women in that world must have fallen victim to them.

[Athena]: Truly a profoundly evil breed.

[Lilis]: I had no idea goblins could be so terrifying! Not only do they have goblins who can use magic, but even Goblin Lords with power rivaling Platinum-ranked adventurers!

Sitting in the tavern, Lilis's eyes were wide with fear. Faced with such a diverse and dangerous array of goblins, not only could her Iron-ranked party be wiped out—even a Gold-ranked party might fail spectacularly. And the consequences of failure would be unbearably cruel.

Lilis herself was a woman. If she were captured by those vile, ugly creatures... the thought of being violated by those green-skinned monsters made her shudder violently.

Just imagining the consequences made her legs go weak and her body tremble uncontrollably. It was a fate she couldn't bear to contemplate.

Now, she was beginning to understand why joining the chat group meant escaping the god's dice. Had she not joined, remaining ignorant of the dice and clinging to her dismissive attitude toward goblins, today's mission would likely have ended in disaster.

A wave of immense relief washed over her. She was so grateful to have joined the chat, and even more grateful that the group's administrator, Yuki, had revealed the true nature of the goblins in her world. Lilis felt a deep sense of gratitude toward Yuki.

Unconsciously, the image of Yuki from the recorded footage flashed through her mind—vanquishing another deity, resolving a multiverse crisis, seated high upon a throne overlooking all realms. A strange sense of awe welled up within her.

A flush of excitement spread across the young woman's pale cheeks.

At that moment, her faith wavered. The Supreme God she had once believed in only rolled dice, offering no warning in this moment of peril. Yet it was Yuki who had alerted her to the goblins' true danger, making her discard her contempt.

Perhaps... this was the Deity truly worthy of my devotion.

Once this idea took root in the girl's heart, it quietly began to grow within her.

[Dongfang Huaizhu]: Looking at it this way, wouldn't Miss Lilis and her team's mission be very dangerous?!

[Artemis]: Absolutely! Given Lilis's current level as an Iron-ranked adventurer, even if they don't run into a Goblin Lord, just encountering a Goblin Champion would be bad enough.

[Marika]: Maybe they should just cancel the mission! If things go wrong, the consequences...

Marika didn't finish the sentence, but everyone understood what those consequences would be.

Especially for those from modern societies, like Saeko Busujima and the others, who were all too aware of what happened to women taken back to goblin nests. After all, that particular theme was quite common in "certain kinds of comics" in their worlds.
