Sophia stared out the window, her reflection blurry in the glass. The city looked alive, but her memories dragged her back to the night that changed everything.
Adrian stood silently behind her. "Tell me, Sophia. What happened?"
She swallowed hard. "The night I left… I found out I was pregnant."
Adrian's eyes widened. "What?"
"I was going to tell you," she whispered. "But I got a call—from Sebastian. He told me you had been offered a surgery position abroad. That you were leaving."
"That's a lie," Adrian said, his voice tight. "I never—"
"I know that now," she cut in. "But back then, Sebastian showed me fake documents. A transfer letter with your name on it. He made it look like you'd chosen your career over me... over us."
Adrian's fists clenched. "He broke us apart."
She nodded slowly. "I didn't want to be abandoned. So, I made the decision to disappear first."
Silence filled the room. Then Adrian spoke, softer now. "I never left you, Sophia. I never stopped loving you."
Sophia turned to face him. "But things are different now."
"Not for me," he said, stepping closer. "You're still the woman I wanted to build a life with. And now… you're the mother of my son."
Her breath caught. "Adrian…"
Before she could finish, the door burst open. Her father stormed in with a file in his hand.
"I warned you," he snapped. "Sebastian has filed for full custody."
Sophia's eyes widened. "He can't do that—"
"He can and he will. The board is questioning your position as a mother. You need protection. And there's only one way now," he said coldly. "You're marrying Sebastian. End of discussion."
Sophia froze.
