After the incident with the deer, I resolved to only hunt as a last resort and only on occasion. I used increased speed to bound around the forest trying to search for any edible fruit trees or berry bushes. It took a while but with the help of my status box tool I was able to examine objects and determine if they could be useful to me. I was thankful for this ability as I could never have succeed otherwise.
I finally hit upon an edible fruit bush. I didn't know what this fruit was called. The status just showed that it had a certain amount of food to offer. Thus satisfied, I plucked a few fruits and decided to return later with a basket. As I walked away carrying the fruits I plucked, it occurred to me that I might have difficulty in finding this place again as I had come a rather long way from the village into the forest. I remembered that in certain levels of the game, the player's clan flag would be planted at certain areas of the map to guide the player's people or units to a safe, friendly and helpful point or area
But it was available only for custom level creators who wanted to create their own game scenarios and terrain. Would it be available for me? I resolved to try it.
I checked my status box and was happy to find an option called map creator. I found an option to place a flag. I pulled out the flag from the icon and planted it firmly amidst the fruit bushes. Thus marking the spot, I left to return with a basket or sack.
I came back carrying a good strong small sack to fill up with fruits. I plucked as many ripening fruits as I could and joyfully filled up my sack. I returned happily to the village. I ate the fruits as I walked around examining the village. I wanted to scout the area to know the lay of the land but I later found that I had no need to struggle much. I found that my status box also had an option called "Mini map" which allowed me to see the terrain and the area around me and my own position. It was like a GPS.
As night fell and I lay down to sleep after taking every precaution for my safety, I silently thanked whatever deity looked after this world for allowing me to reincarnate here. I mentally counted the number of abilities I had used today and said a silent prayer of gratitude as I drifted off to sleep. Most of all, I was grateful for having found an alternative to meat.
