Chapter 2 - I hate this! (2)

...

[Say the magic words.] The sentence was displayed on the system in front of Cole.

"The magic words?".. His confused expression was replaced by a wide smile.

Excited to be able to witness a real-life system, Cole gets overexcited as he covers his mouth with his hands and cries dramatically. "I can't believe I'm gonna experience this. this is like every weebs' dream! Now, System, show me my OP stats!"

[Hah, you thought.] With this remark, the system disappears into thin air, not to be found anywhere in the room.

Cole looked annoyed, "What now? Stop messing with me!!!"

Cole's dramatic display from earlier was replaced by annoyance. "I swear im going to beat the shit out of it once i can physically touch it."

[Well, back to reality for now, I guess.., if I'm Cole Keiser, then the man from earlier who hit me must be my father. Duke Ivo Keiser, or better known as The Sword of the King.]

He, a Platinum Rank, only given to individuals in this world you can count together with one hand, was both feared and envied throughout the whole empire for his strength, loyalty, and hard work.

The rankings go like this:

[ Platinum>Shiny Gold >Gold>Silver>Bronze> No Rank] In my knowledge, the average ranking was silver, that's how hard it was to even be a Gold ranker.

In the Novel, He died saving Cole from the hero, taking the slash that was meant to be an ambush for his son, even though Cole didn't care and pursued the hero further and got killed after. Talk about fatherly love, huh.

*Knock Knock* Gentle Knocks on the door could be heard, "May we enter the room to help you change, young master?" A soft, feminine voice spoke from the other end. "Yeah, I was wondering where you guys were, taking so long to come here." Responded Cole in a surprisingly harsh tone, he didn't mean to use it. The 2 maids bowed in apology. "We apologize for our mistakes, young master, please spare us!"

seeing them so scared, puzzled Cole, [Am I that of a bastard?..] "Alright, if you understood, then start already."

But he didn't want to dig any further as to know why, for now, he had other matters to attend to. "Engagement..., my Fiancé, huh.."

Walking through the huge hallways to find the duke, my mind was elsewhere as I tried remembering the scenarios that were supposed to happen, but.. "Fuck." I came to realize that most of my memories revolved around the novel, and knowledge of this world disappeared as if it were wiped from my mind.

*Sigh..* I tried to stay calm as possible trying to remember once more, but to no use. "How did I forget almost everything about the novel yet still remember that I forgot them? The hell?" still deep in thought I got out of it after reaching the outside of the building, hearing him.

"There you are, do you know how much time you took off of mine, Cole?" His strong Gaze and presence brought some unknown fear out of me. "I greet the duke."I bowed quickly, a cold sweat dripping down my cheek.

"You do know that today is your special day, right?" Some hint of concern behind his deep voice. He was probably talking about my engagement.. "Of course, my engagement day is a special day after all."

"Hmm.." He took a long look at me, taking in my wealthy appearance, and I could see the small smile behind his hand covering his mouth. "Good, now get in the Carriage."

An awkward atmosphere started forming as soon as we sat across each other inside the carriage.

"Cole." His deep voice was lighter than usual. I jolted slightly and turned slowly toward him, my fear rose yet again as if this body was terrified of Duke Keiser.

"Y-yeah?.. something w-wrong?.." Silence filled our atmosphere for a moment.

He sighed heavily as he spoke, "This is something important. I need you to listen carefully."
