Chapter 207 - Chapter 207: Doubts, Worries, and Questions Answered

[3rd POV]

The group had realized that their talking was absolutely being listened in on by the literal deity that was sitting in the same store as them. And once they had realized that, they had promptly moved to telepathic communication courtesy of M'gann.

'Are we certain that this will not be detectable by her? She is a godlike entity, no? Surely she'd be able to read our thoughts without difficulty' M'gann asked the others telepathically, not really understanding how they thought that she would not hear this.

'Oh I have no doubt that she can easily hear us. But I do doubt that she would go out of her way to do so. So far she has shown absolutely no negative intentions towards us, and for all intents and purposes, has been a kind and relatively relaxed person. It would be rather strange for her to do anything to us' Kaldur responded, not seeing any reason why she would hurt them.

'Yeah, if she wanted us dead we'd already be dusted. Plus the worst she has ever done was cursing Captain Atom, and from what I have seen, he kind of deserved it. Oh, that and the pranks' Dick added, as the others stopped.

'Pranks?' Artemis was the one to ask this.

'Oh yeah, she's the one that went around pranking Superman a few times. I guess she even got Batman too. She was even the one that messed with us a few times, like with Mr Twister. So back then if she wanted to kill us, she could have done it' Dick explained to the others, as they all went silent in realization.

This meant that she had likely been watching them for a while now, even before the League themselves had known about her. Not only that, but it was equally as likely that she had helped them at least twice. And while yes, the woman had indeed pranked them, she had also saved them.

So it was hard for them to continue to doubt her intentions, when she genuinely had saved them from death at least once.

'Man...that explains a lot to be honest. But still, why did she help us? What does someone with that level of power get from helping a bunch of nobodies like us? It's not like we can repay her or anything' Wally asked, still not entirely convinced that she was a good guy, or that she had no bad intentions.

'And what would she gain from hurting or killing us? We're less than bugs to her, Wally. It'd be like stepping on an ant when walking, you literally don't even notice it. So there really is no point in continuing to worry about it' Dick responded, not seeing the point in freaking out over it.

She was a God that made the Justice League look like ants. So there little team would almost be like something lesser than an ant, something so small that it's not even noticeable.

'Are we going to continue to sit here and whine about it, or can we start to actually grab books that we need to buy?' Superboy asked, starting to get annoyed with the lack of action. With the fact that the other members of the team were so hesitant just because of some books and a lady that could beat the snot out of the Justice League.

'Superboy is...right in that aspect. We need to stop complaining about the current situation, and simply do what we came here to do. Buy some books that may help improve ourselves in the future, therefore strengthening our likelihood of combating and defeating villains' Kaldur said, deciding that they needed to move on from whatever this little conversation was.

They had been in the shop for a lot longer than they had initially planned, and it was becoming increasingly likely that the League would figure out that they were there. And once they did, that would be a problem. The League could potentially cause more issues with the owner of the bookstore, and that is not something any of them can afford to happen.

So, after a few more moments of chatting, the team decided to finally go and buy the books that they found interesting. This had taken another ten minutes, as some of them wanted way more books than others, and some of them were hesitant about the books.

But when they had finally gotten up to the counter, the ones that were hesitant about buying books due to the price, were blind sided by the fact that Dick had paid for all of the books.

Courtesy of having an adoptive father that is rich as hell.

In return they had also gotten a book bag that a lot of customers that spent beyond a certain amount would get. Well, customers that had magic and such. They had spent a LOT of money on books because of M'gann and Wally. Both had grabbed dozens of books without even thinking about the price before they got to the counter.

So they had spent thousands on books, and thus they had gotten the book bag in return. Normally someone would get one after spending a bit more, but...Wanda decided to be nice this time. That and she was confident that they'd return pretty quickly once they realized how helpful the books they had bought were for them.

"Is there anything else you need, or is that all?" Wanda asked, as she looked over the group.

"Hmm, can we get two dozen muffins, an equal amount of each flavor?" Dick asked, as Wanda nodded. With there being four different flavors on the menu at the moment, they each would have six of each flavor.

They floated out in four small boxes, which M'gann had promptly floated behind her, but not before Dick had paid for them.

"I actually have a question" Artemis said, before the group could turn to leave. Wanda raised an eyebrow, and listened as Artemis continued.

"Why'd you help the team out? You know, with Twister or whatever his name was" Artemis asked, making Wanda smile.

"Because I thought your expressions would be amusing if I helped you, no matter how minor that help may be. I also do not like the idea of a bunch of children getting harmed, be it physically or mentally" Wanda answered, not seeing a reason to lie to the child in front of her.

"How old are you?" The voice of Superboy asked this question.

"I'm not sure to be honest with you, child. But I am quite certain that I am billions of years old, likely older than your home universe" Wanda replied, and this was thanks to the truth. Time worked differently in the Void, so she had no idea what her true age was.

But she believed her guess was rather accurate. At least for the most part, she could be far older, but she was confident that she was not younger than that guess.

Hearing her answer, their eyes widened in shock, realizing that the woman standing before them was likely the oldest being in their universe (at least that they knew of).

"I'm immortal, child. Truly immortal" Wanda added, knowing what the next question was about to be. And once more, this was the truth. Wanda could not die unless the creator themself ended her, otherwise? She was going to live forever.

This was due to her nature as a primordial that is connecting to more and more universes, and thanks to her constantly growing in power. You would have to first destroy the concepts that she embodies to end her life.

Which was not possible considering she was connected to multiple universes, and was the embodiment of a fundamental force in the form of knowledge and possibility. The latter's destruction would doom any universe she was bonded to thanks to possibility being one of the most important forces in all of creation.

"Incredible" Kaldur whispered.

"Now, do you have any more questions?" Wanda asked, as Artemis shook her head and the others did the same.

"Well then, I hope you all have an excellent rest of your day. Oh, and do inform your League that they do not need to be afraid of me, I'm not going to hurt them or anything" Wanda said, with Kaldur giving her a nod, understanding that she likely would not do anything bad.

As long as she was not attacked or any of her family was attacked.

With that, the group soon left after giving their own goodbyes, all the while Wanda had only one thought on her mind.

'What an amusing group'
