[3rd POV]
"I can't be the only one who thinks that she's kind of creepy, right?" Wally whispered to Artemis and Robin, who were both also somewhat suspicious of Wanda still. They had been looking over at the woman repeatedly, watching her every move to make sure she didn't do something too outlandish.
"I wouldn't say that she is creepy, I'd say that she is really suspicious. But I guess that's kind of a big part of why the League is so hesitant to come anywhere near here" Dick responded, not agreeing that the woman was creepy, but he was agreeing that she was not normal or anything like that.
"Well yeah, she did terrify the league, all of them. And she does know a lot of things that nobody else should be able to know, or could know. So it's not all that surprising that she seems suspicious. Cause normally she'd be a villain to us, but she technically isn't one in the eyes of the League" Artemis added, as Wally huffed.
"And why is that? Why is someone that has so much power and terrifies the league that much not considered a villain? If it was anyone else they would be a villain on sight and we wouldn't be allowed anywhere near them" Wally asked, genuinely confused, and also somewhat concerned with this.
"Well...from what I know? It's because she is a neutral party. I had taken the liberty to do some...digging, and found out a few things about Wanda and what she had done to make them leave her alone" Dick explained, as both Wally and Artemis looked at him with interest clearly on their faces.
"Well? What happened?" Artemis said, motioning for him to continue.
"I'll talk about it once we have the whole team listening, don't want to have to repeat it again. But I can tell you that there really is not anything we can do about it, and it technically isn't anything bad. Just kind of...complicated" Dick said, waving off their concerns for now.
"So what, we just ignore the almighty entity running the bookstore we are currently standing in and instead focus on finding some books to buy? Is that really the best idea?" Wally asked, as Dick shrugged.
"Yep. Once the other three are finished finding their books we can talk about it" Dick said, not really too bothered. He had read all the reports that Batman had made, and he was confident that Wanda would not harm them.
She actually was more likely to prank them than hurt them, considering her track record.
With that, the trio went back to shopping, not realizing that Wanda had listened to everything that they had said, and was smiling somewhat, not bothered by their concern. It was only natural, and quite frankly she would have been more worried if they did not have some concerns regarding her being.
At least they were not dumb.
_______________
With M'gann and Superboy, the two were in the same section at the moment. Mostly because M'gann had found a meditation style that she thought could be helpful for Superboy, considering his rather...volatile emotions at the moment.
Superboy had been living in the mountains for a little while now, and had been adapting to things quite a bit faster than normal. It was still rather slow going, but having these books could help him.
"Why do I need books on meditation again?" Superboy asked the Martian that was standing next to him, looking over her own choice of books.
"Because meditation can help you control your emotions better. And we both know you need that, Superboy" M'gann responded, as the boy huffed at her words, but did not retort. He knew it was the truth, and he was not going to even bother trying to deny it.
There was no point, he would just look dumb if he did.
"And you think these meditation methods will help me with that?" Superboy asked, not really believing that something as simple as meditation can help. He just didn't understand how it could be something so...simple, so easy.
"I do. It helps you find a sort of...balance in yourself. Back on Mars such methods were very common, and used by a large majority of my species. But the meditation methods that are in these books are even better than what I have learned" M'gann explained, before continuing a few moments later.
"And them being better than yours is impressive?"
"Hmm? Oh yes, absolutely. The meditation and mental training methods of my people have been used and refined for millennia. And yet not a single one of them could even begin to compare to the ones in these books. So yes, they are incredible. I'm sure even my uncle will want to read through these once he learns of them" M'gann responded with a rapid nod.
From what she could tell, the books in front of her were more advanced than anything she had seen back on Mars. Which was an insane statement considering how young the human race was, and the books seemed to have been created by humans.
"Not only that, but these books may also make you stronger in other ways!" M'Gann added, knowing that strength was something that Superboy valued quite a lot. So if she could get him to realize that meditating can actually make him stronger, then he would be much more interested in doing it.
Wanda let out a small snort as she heard M'gann's attempt at manipulating the clone. And she fought back a small laugh when she realized that M'gann's attempt had worked as he began to look at the books with far more interest than before.
"How? What does meditating do to make me stronger? Besides helping control my emotions?" Superboy asked, eyes narrowing. He was finding it hard to believe that statement, even if it was potentially the truth.
"Well by learning to control your emotions, you can therefore control your powers easier, since your powers can be set off from strong emotions. And if you learn to master yourself well enough, you should theoretically be able to manipulate your powers to a level that not even Superman could compare to" M'gann explained, as the boy decided to listen to her words and began to truly pay attention to the books.
M'gann watched with a small smile on her face, not bothered that she had just manipulated the boy she had been crushing on for a while now.
____________
Wanda had watched all the children shop with amusement in her eyes. They were all having rather fun reactions, with only Kaldur going about it in a rather normal way. He did not seem bothered by the nature of the shop, and who she was. And Wanda could tell that the boy knew what she had done to Captain Atom and the likes.
This meant that more than likely his king had told him, and that king was of course Aquaman.
The boy had mostly grabbed books on hydrokinesis, water based magics, and had even grabbed one that involved the manipulation of blood through the water within it. This was the strongest thing he had grabbed, and the one with the most potential.
It was also compatible with his power, and should be fully usable.
Eventually the team had reconvened, deciding to listen to Robin's explanation.
And what they had heard from Robin, which was backed up by Kaldur, was shocking. The fact that Wanda had cursed Captain Atom after the man had foolishly attacked her was already insane. But the fact that she was a neutral force that allowed both the likes of Lex Luthor to shop in her store, but also heroes.
"So...she really is a villain then? To curse someone like Captain Atom would make her one, does it not?" M'gann asked, rather confused with the situation.
"No, I don't think so. From what I have found out, she is categorized as a "Avoid conflict at all costs" type person. Meaning that even if she was a villain, we can't do anything about it. We cannot afford to piss off a being that can literally destroy universes like she was blinking. Not only that, but she hadn't really done much to harm Captain Atom, who had threatened her son first" Robin replied with a shake of his head"
"You do know that she can hear us, right?" Superboy couldn't help but say, as they all turned to him.
"What?"
"Well she's this...God, deity, right? So do you really think that she cannot hear us from across a store, when she can make and end universes like she was blinking?" Superboy couldn't help but say once more, looking at them like they were stupid.
Realizing this, their faces began to pale slightly as they turned to look at Wanda, only to find her watching them with amusement glimmering in her eyes. And at the same time, she had only one thought on her mind.
'I guess even the protégé's can be dumb at times'
