The next day, Elaine followed James Mason's orders and went to pick up Iris Harris.
When she entered, Iris was already dressed and sitting on the bed. Seeing Elaine approaching, she raised her head and smiled at her, "Is it starting?"
Elaine paused for a moment, because Iris seemed unusually normal at that moment.
"Yes. Please come with me, Miss Harris."
It was only when Iris stood up that Elaine noticed a slight awkwardness in her movements.
She moved like an elderly person on the brink of collapse, her actions gentle and slow. Elaine moved over to support her slightly, and only then did she feel Iris's body trembling.
For a moment, mixed emotions rose within her.
It turns out she was still afraid.
"...Let's go."
Iris withdrew her arm from Elaine's hand, straightened her body, and spoke to her.
"..."
Elaine nodded silently, opened the door, intentionally slowed her pace, and guided Iris outside.
