"Asher Land, is what's on the news true?" As soon as the call connected, Sophie Smith's anxious and urgent voice reached his ears.
"It's true." Even though she hadn't specified what the matter was, he could sense exactly what she was referring to.
"Your father, did he really, really pass away?" Sophie hesitantly asked again.

"Haven't I already told you? He's not my father." Asher Land's voice showed no emotion, plain and indifferent, leaving Sophie momentarily at a loss.
"I don't need comfort, don't worry about me, I'm fine." Asher spoke naturally, "Give it a few days, and once everything is handled, I'll come to pick you and Alexander up."
