Chapter 303 - Shield Against Ecological Corrosion

Lilith thought for a moment and then flicked the Magic Staff again, putting one on the bewildered Icelis as well. The strange signs on their faces quickly faded, as if nothing had happened. Fei'er Li flipped through a book nearby, directly checking what kind of buff this was.

"One extra layer of shield? That is so vague, is that all it says?"

"All done. Also, you should avoid using His power casually in the future."

Lilith put away the Magic Staff. She had added a permanent shield effect to the two kids, but it was not to block others. It was to protect them from themselves, preventing Ecological Corrosion phenomena caused by the spread of Belial's essence power.

"Of course, if it is dangerous, just use it. He would not care about such small matters. And if possible, remember to find a chance to say thank you later."

"Oh, okay. By the way, Lilith sister, where is the big guy now?"

"He is sleeping. You know, you might not see him come out for a long time."

Nefit did not really understand what the two were talking about. It sounded like personal matters, so she held back her curiosity. As for Fei'er Li, she was even more confused.

Because the book in her hands lit up. On the cover, besides the dragon and human, the tree and new shoots, a third mark appeared. It was a brilliant crystal.

"Um… Miss Lilith, may I ask if your title is, uh, Crystal Witch?"

"That was my old title. When I was active in academic circles, most people used it to refer to me. But I have not really come out for decades now. Why do you ask?"

Lilith tried to analyze the look Fei'er Li was giving her. It felt very familiar, the same look she had when she first saw Bella and Belial. It was the look of seeing something new and interesting, mixed with that cursed top-tier privilege card vibe.

Fei'er Li began digging through memories that were almost completely dead. From the corner of her mind, she finally pulled out information about this person. This was a mage.

In the original story, this one was like a Saintess, a presence only known by titles and never appearing. She was also unlucky, having died long before the the Lord line even began. The cause of death was the talent-jealous Crystal Sickness, and the Chosen Hero lady who worked hard to trace clues only found a lonely Floating Island floating in the Void, its buildings covered in Crystal.

As for the Witch herself, she had long since completely turned into Magic Crystal, without a single trace left. Only the island, like a tombstone, floated in the Void. In the end it was all for nothing, and it even took a whole long volume to describe it, which was ridiculous.

But now, Fei'er Li had to consider that this might be her only chance in life. Right in front of her was a living one.

"To think I would meet you here… is this fate?"

"And wait, was this teammate who got forcibly written out really this strong? A Mage strong enough to beat Evil God projections like dogs?"

It seemed it was not just that. Even Icelis and the others nearby were too shocked to speak, when normally they would already be messing around. That meant Lilith's strength was at least not below Icelis, and very likely above her.

That meant she might be a Sanctum Domain level Mage. Then everything made sense. No wonder she was banned, she was simply too strong. If a Chosen Hero had a Sanctuary Tier level Mage teammate like this, aside from the Four Heavenly Kings and the Evil God, most problems could be steamrolled.

"Ahem… Miss Lilith, I have done some research on the stories of the Chosen Hero. However, there are still some materials that are very hard to gather. Do you know any channels or insider information?"

"To be honest, based on my research over the years, I found some rather special Magic that are somewhat similar to the Evil God projections you just dealt with. This kind of Magic also has a strong connection to the territories on the Demonkind side."

"…"

Lilith said nothing. She only nodded slightly as if listening, then her eyes lit up as she looked at the White Tier colored book in Fei'er Li's hands. What was that book, she wondered, and it made things even more interesting.

Of course, Lilith had heard of the Chosen Hero legend. She had even personally gone to look at that Holy Sword, which was still stuck in the holy mountain of the Church of Holy Light Holy City. Ham had also talked about it before, and she learned more about the intimacy involved and the true origin of the Chosen Hero.

There was actually not much to say. The Chosen Hero was essentially a janitor, holding the broom that served as a safeguard, the Holy Sword, and cleaning up the entire World of things that tried to crawl up from the Abyss from time to time. Those were Evil God or anything related to them.

Some hidden mechanisms like Chosen Hero qualifications were still unclear. In truth, Lilith did not pay much attention anymore. After all, once the Demon King was dealt with, even the Evil God were nearly wiped out, so why worry about these things.

But why was Fei'er Li so focused on this legend. The Demon King and the Chosen Hero had disappeared thousands of years ago, and she had even detected special Magic from the Demonkind side that had been cleaned up by Belial. Lilith had already silently imprinted the three marks revealed on the pages of that book into her mind.

She was sure she had seen these marks somewhere. After searching her memory, she found it quickly.

"Those four marks on the prophecy book of Dawn I saw at the Elven Race… the Chosen Hero legend?"

Her eyes narrowed slightly. Then, without a sound, she clenched the Magic Staff and began making a call.

"Oh, Lilith is calling. Then it seems she has already found them." Inside the Observation Station, Ham had been fiddling with the power of The End for half a day without producing anything useful. He finally set aside his work, and with a casual pull, the tiny floating nanomachines in the air assembled themselves into a screen.

On the screen appeared Fei'er Li and the others, along with a message from Lilith. It read, "I found three individuals related to Belial, and protective measures have already been put in place." Another line followed, advising that they should still be marked in case cleanup was needed, and noting that one person was particularly unusual, asking if he was familiar with them.

He did recognize that person, very clearly in fact, but now did not seem like the right time to explain. Judging by the person's appearance, they were still unconscious, and it was hard to tell how many times this had already happened. He muttered complaints about how that person always made their presence so faint and only turned up after causing trouble.

"That wound did not look light at all. When this finally works, I will try stuffing your thing back in and see if you can get your old brain back," he grumbled. Seeing that almost everyone was now accounted for, Ham pulled out a virtual keyboard and began typing rapidly, converting the text into a message and sending it out again.

On the other side, Lilith received the information without making any obvious movements. She simply used her deep knowledge to exchange a few points with the other party about the relationship between Chosen Hero and Demon King. Her tone remained calm and analytical throughout.

She then turned her gaze to Fei'er Li, the corner of her mouth lifting slightly as she spoke. "Chosen Hero and Demon King are indeed an interesting topic, but why are you so certain?" Her eyes were steady as she continued questioning.

"After all, Demonkind were almost completely wiped out during that pitch-black Descent of the Dragon God. Even their basic population no longer exists, so why would a Demon King still be born?" Her words cut straight to the core of the issue.

"Well, that comes from the large-scale Magic flow maps I collected earlier," Fei'er Li replied after hesitating. He explained that an unusual type of Magic behaved like a vortex, surging toward a specific region deep within former Demonkind territory, while traces of some special power flowed outward in reverse.

"This is clearly abnormal," he continued. "It does not look like a massive ritual Magic Array, but rather the activity of some individual existence. I cannot detect any direct traces at all, and if such an entity truly exists, then it is very likely a Demon King."

Lilith had struck the key point at once, but Fei'er Li kept his expression unchanged and used prepared wording to gloss over the gaps. He could not exactly tell her that the extinction of Demonkind had nothing to do with Demon King. If he said that, the next question would be how he knew, and that would be even harder to answer.
