Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Separation and Destruction (Part 1)

Hello everyone, I'm here to repeat: if I have any mistakes or misspell something, don't be afraid to write. The one who should be afraid is me when I read your comments.

But it's fine how you say it, as long as it's done constructively, like, "How could you say that Zoro likes women when it's obvious from a distance that he likes men and swords? In fact, what Zoro hates the most are women and poor people of color (blacks). It goes like this.

In fact, there's a comment there where you corrected me, and rereading what I wrote, it feels like I'm being super aggressive, and that's not my intention; it's purely the translator's fault.

Well, that would be all, and with that, let the chapter continue.

< Warning: In this part of the story, I go completely crazy with the events that happen in the story. >

Third-Person POV

A very well-dressed man could be seen sitting, reading the newspaper while holding a glass of fine, high-quality wine.

In the newspaper, the big news story could be seen, depicting the great feat of the group of heroes in defeating the legendary pirate Shiki.

This was another newspaper recounting the experience of defeating Shiki; Morgnas had called Dante to find out more about the incident.

Mrogans had written things down almost as they happened, only more fantastical and dramatic, something he always did, all for entertainment.

But the newspaper didn't just mention that incident but also a statement from Dante himself.

???: "Well, well, I see you're bored of playing the hero. I wonder what you'll do now? Will you come back, or will I have to act myself?" the man said.

The man wasn't alone; there was another companion not far away, sitting in a corner. This one wore a sleep mask and looked up as if he were resting, only to open his mouth.

???: "I thought we came to act regardless of what I chose, and if I'm honest, I'd like some action, since this is like my test, all in quotes," he said, proving he wasn't asleep.

???: "We're already looking into the situation; according to calculations, we'll intercept him at some point." "Until then, we can go to the allied kingdoms to obtain more resources; let's get to Sabaody first," the other said, putting down his newspaper to stand and leave the room.

As he left, he walked down a corridor; he even reached the surface of the ship they were traveling in.

???: "I'll soon see how much you've grown, Dante," he said with a grim smile.

* Scene Change *

Dante's POV

I was sitting in a corner while the place was filled with celebration and joy. I was there because it was the place where everyone could look at me and know I wasn't doing anything wrong. And how could I if I was still injured? Those sons of bitches Arthur and Sulli didn't heal me like usual, using the excuse of cells and forcing them—pure bullshit. This is the world of monsters in human form; obviously, my cells are going to have muscles in muscles.

But there wasn't much I could do, so I stayed there with my game cup, watching everyone else doing the stupid things I should be doing.

Quick background: While the "nurses" were there, since they got male nurses to treat my wounds, Trini told the others about her pregnancy, and after that, they decided to have a celebration party.

So I was watching Trini surrounded by older women who'd already had children, talking about things; what things? I have no idea; I'm not interested in hearing about it. Arthur was drinking and gambling; by default, he was in his underwear, having lost everything, even his spear. This reminded me of an incident a few years ago, very similar to this one.

Isis was dancing and playing with younger children; some men approached her, but she brushed them off. I'm thinking again that maybe Isis is on the other side; I'd have to ask her straight afterward. Finally, the most important one, the father of the year, dancing, laughing, and drinking. Trini decided to turn a blind eye to what he was doing, to the point of saying she didn't know him.

About four days had passed since we defeated Shiki, and several newspapers were reporting on our achievement. Morgans, showing how much he likes to put on a show, called me immediately for details of what happened. I did, but I dropped another bombshell along the way.

The group of heroes split up. The six members—well, five, since Hun will stay with me until he dies or I leave him with Luna when I leave here—are splitting up, each of us going on and living our lives as we please.

But before we retire, we'll do a sort of tour. We won't say where we're going, but we'll do it in about a month. We'll cover most of Paradise and some of the New World, and after that, bye, each of us on our own.

Trini will start her school, Sulli her clinic, Isis her flower shop, and Arthur. He hasn't decided yet, and I have to talk to him about it, but there's still time. The travel time, including rest, will take about six months.

After that, we'll have to put Trini in a good place so she can spend the last three months of her pregnancy well, and when I say "well," I mean well away from me, since I've seen how women get when they're pregnant. Let her husband take care of it, not me.

I was taking the last sips of my juice when someone came bounding up. He was big, loud, and ugly; he was also carrying a child in his arms like a suitcase.

It was none other than Garp, the child a carbon copy of me when I was about 9 or 10 years old.

Garp: "Wahahahaha, I see there's a party going on, so free food," he said, with no shame in interrupting a party. He also looked at me. "Look, brat, there's your father. Go with him." And with that, he launched himself at the child like a cannonball.

All I could do was receive him, chest-first, throwing myself out of my chair and tearing up the sign Trini and Isis had made that read: "Women, stay away unless you want to die painfully."

* the next day *

I was feeling exhausted from yesterday; if the place was already a bit chaotic, Garp came along just to stir things up even more.

The last thing I saw before going to bed was Arthur, Garp, and someone who lived in the village where we were staying having a competition to see who could eat the most, with Garp winning. For a moment, I wondered if Garp was breathing.

At my movement in bed, my companion, who was cuddling around my torso, shifted closer to me. And if you're wondering, that's Marie, and she's currently Garp's secretary, freeing up extra work for Borgard, who needed it a bit.

Garp and company had come from East Blue with Gil to take him to Marie Geoise for training as a marine, which was something he wanted, giving him some peace of mind, since of the three brats he had on his naval island, at least one wanted to be one. So, he was taking him to Zephyr for premature training.

All of this was proposed when they found out about Shiki and that he was basically at the entrance to South Blue, so they came here at Garp, Marie, and Gil's request to Bogard.

And here they are: their purpose is most likely to annoy, or more specifically, to annoy me. I looked at the naked blonde with the incredible body next to me and thought: maybe this won't bother me so much."

I was surprised that she still clung to me despite the years; it must be part of my curse. But what's done is done, so I just decided to pick the ripe fruit if they're offering it to me for free, and I'd grown tired of being nice in that regard.

I got up without waking up and went to the kitchen, only to find Gil. The last time I saw him, he was 2, and now he's 9, so it was a bit strange to run into him unprepared and unannounced.

Dante: "Hey, how are you? Have you had breakfast yet?" I asked.

Gil: "Oh, yeah, I mean, no, I haven't eaten yet. I'm waiting for Mom to wake up." Yeah, I don't think that'll happen anytime soon.

Dante: "Go to the dining room; I'll make something." He just nodded.

Making meals for my friends all the time will pay off, so they'll think their dad isn't just lazy but a lazy person who knows how to cook.

...

Dante: "Well, show me what you've got," I said to Gil, who was standing in front of me, ready for a fight.

Gil: "Right away," he said, launching himself at me.

He had a decent level of combat from fighting so many other kids; well, knowing that one was Garp's grandson and the other the son of the Pirate King, it makes sense that his hand-to-hand combat wouldn't be bad, but it's just not bad.

With a swift movement of my feet and hands, I knocked him to the ground, causing him to fall face first.

Dante: "Get up again."

Gil: "Yeah," he said, a little frustrated, launching himself into the attack again.

I just looked at him with a smile. We went on like this for a good 40 minutes. In the end, Gil ended up lying on the ground, sweating and panting from exhaustion.

Dante: "It's not bad, but like me, you're not good at hand-to-hand combat. It works for me because I'm extremely strong and I target joints and weak points, but you don't have that ability or do that."

Gil: "So, I just need to get stronger and hit more precisely?" he gasped.

Dante: "No, you'll need a weapon and learn how to use it. Also, with a sword or something similar, you can complement your Devil Fruit." "Tell me how you're doing with that."

Gil just sat down and drew a line with his finger, cutting the tree in front of him in two.

I just nodded with some hesitation. I only fought with that fruit a while ago, and I remember my brother didn't need to use his hands; just by looking at his opponent, he could cut them. But the more fingers he used, the more powerful the attack, but by default, it was slower.

Gil: "What's the name of this Devil Fruit? The old man only gave it to me to eat last year; I asked him, and he said he didn't know."

Dante: "It's called the Kiri Kiri no Mi, the Slash Fruit; you can cut anything in your vision."

Gil: "And how did you get it?"

Dante: "I killed the former user, and when I was leaving, it was a pear, a common fruit in homes. The funny thing is, it was in a tree, lying on the ground."

I was about to say something, but I felt a presence approaching us, and recognizing the person's silhouette, I knew this wasn't going to be very fun.

Garp: "I heard sounds of fighting, so I came to see what you were doing to join you." "Dante, let's fight. It's been a while since we've fought. Let's have a serious fight this time."

I just looked at him as if he were mentally retarded.

Dante: "You want to destroy the island in less than two minutes, destroy homes, and create a horrible environment for the people who survive? What kind of Marine are you?"

Saying that, Garp had the decency to act a little shameless, but only a little.

Garp: "Let's have a very casual, friendly fight, then."

I just slapped my face with my palm.

....

We were at the table, all gathered like a family. But there was a tension in the air, about one person in particular.

Marie was sitting on my lap, feeding me like I was a baby. Not far away, Trini was glaring at her.

The truth is, Trini still hadn't forgotten when Marie and her dead companion attacked the ship; Marie never apologized or made amends. She may be her nephew's mother, but that doesn't mean she has to like her.

Dante: "Trini, could you pass me the salad next to you?" I asked.

Trini: "Why don't you ask the bitch on your lap?" Incredibly, Marie completely ignored this comment as if it hadn't been said.

But I saw Gil tense up a little at this situation, which makes sense; his aunt was insulting his mother.

Dante: "Well, because you're closer to the salad." The awkward silence at the table was incredible. The only one unaffected was Garp, who was sleeping with a chicken leg in one hand and a glass of milk in the other.

Arthur: "I know there's bad blood between us and her, but that happened a long time ago; there's no point in—"

Trini: "SHUT UP, ARTHUR, OR I'LL CUT YOUR BALLS OFF."

Arthur threw himself to the floor, curled into a ball, and rolled away.

Isis, using the wind, moved the salad plate next to me so she could serve me.

Dante: "Thanks, Isis. Finally, someone's doing something and not complaining like they're owed money or something."

Trini stood up from her chair, put one foot up on the table, and pulled out her two pistols, pointing one at me and the other at Marie.

Trini: "If you want to fight, say so. You don't have to throw hints at me," she said threateningly.

Dante: "I didn't think you were on your period since you were pregnant, but from what I see, you're always on your period."

At my comment, Trini flipped the table, spilling all the food she'd prepared, upsetting everyone. But even with all this, Garp continued sleeping.

Trini: "I'LL KILL YOU, DANTE. HOLD STILL SO I CAN SHOOT YOU BETWEEN THE EYEBROWS."

Dante: "Haaaaaa," I yelled as I ran away, holding Marie in my arms.

...

Finally, a moment of peace and quiet. I was alone in a beach chair, looking out at the sea while sipping pineapple juice.

Oddly enough, everyone was busy. Trini was busy with her own things, dragging Sulli along. Arthur was training with Gil. Marie and Bogard were making Gar do his homework, and Isis was learning to cook with the help of the island's housewives.

That gave me time to check my stuff in the system.

I haven't looked at the item purchase catalog in the store for a while, mostly because I'm saving up to buy Ea. So you could say I'm a compulsive saver, but with a purpose.

As I looked through the items, I came across those belonging to this world, specifically the Devil Fruits.

There were several that were unavailable because they had users, but oddly enough, I could still buy them, since the code would start working when the user died or I left this universe.

My mind fell on one in particular, one that hadn't been consumed yet. The Yami Yami no Mi, the Fruit of Darkness. Before I checked it, it was under loan sharking, but now it's free. I was tempted to buy and consume it, but I quickly got over it. Mainly because this lodge doesn't have the most striking feature of other lodges: intangibility.

It has other things that make up for it, but I'm not interested in having a Devil Fruit empire. I could sell them, but to make money, I prefer hunting pirates.

So, I ignored the Devil Fruit and set my sights on another, a fruit I'd never seen before. If it weren't for another similar fruit currently in Dianna's possession, which Ares had given to me to consume, which I didn't accept, I wouldn't know it existed.

Look at its price: 100,000,000,000 LP, which almost gave me a heart attack. If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the most expensive fruits in the catalog. But there was a reason: the Devil Fruit was as unique as its counterpart, which made it worth the price.

The fruit didn't have a user, so if I bought it, I could consume it immediately. I wonder where the fruit is—or its current location. I imagine something cult-like, with the fruit on an altar and strange people worshipping it. Now I imagine if I buy it and bring it back to my inventory. The fruit it was on would disappear. I can see how those people would kill each other to find out who stole it.

Look at my current budget, which is 305,430,190,000 LP, which isn't cheap, but I'm missing a few zeros to get to what Ea costs.

I'll most likely be leaving this world soon, and if so, then I won't have any other way to get LP here. I plan to consume it as soon as I arrive in another universe, so it shouldn't affect me buying one right now.

So I closed my eyes and spent 100,000,000,000 LP on the fruit, which I immediately summoned into my hand.

In my palm lay a completely black apple, with strange patterns. It looked a lot like its counterpart, the Devil Fruit, except the other one is white.

Dante: "Ha, like Yin and Yang."

I looked at it, tempted to eat it now or later, just to send it to the system inventory.

I was sorely tempted, but it's best to leave it in the corner of the inventory so I don't see it and get tempted.

My head was getting really hot over all this, so I turned it off, stared at the horizon, and sipped my juice, thinking nothing of it, until it got really dark or someone came looking for me.

...

The month-long break we were supposed to spend preparing has already passed, and when I say preparing, I mean doing nothing. More specifically, I'm not doing anything.

It's mostly for everyone else; they're thinking about what they're going to do, their budgets, where they're going to go, and in other cases, what they'll do in the future.

I spent the week sleeping, sleeping, and sleeping. The first few days were with Garp, Marie, Gil, and Bogart, but they were only there for the first five days; after that, they left, since this was just a detour and they had responsibilities to attend to.

Dante: "So, have you planned what you're going to do?" I asked everyone.

Everyone looked at each other; we were in the cabin where we were staying, almost ready to leave and start the tour.

Sulli: "Half and half."

Isis: "We don't know where we'll settle yet, but the idea is to look around while we travel; we might even want to live on the same island."

Dante: "What about you?" I asked, looking at Arthur, who was sitting, almost lying down, in the chair.

Arthur: "I haven't decided yet."

I just looked at him as if to say if I'd even thought about it.

Dante: "It doesn't matter; you still have time; if not, I'll have to leave you on a lonely island far from all civilization; there you can think all you want." "With that said, let's get out of here."

Everyone stood up except Arthur, who looked at me, a little stunned by my statement.

Arthur: "You wouldn't be capable of doing that." No one said anything to him. "Right?"

And with that, we would begin what would be our last trip, a tour of almost all of Paradise and a bit of the New World.
