Chapter 48 - Chapter 47: The Young Lion

The Respect Logistics drone not only delivered a mountain of biological components but also brought a set of professional surgical equipment.

After moving the surgical equipment into a warehouse, Liu Ruoying brought over some other gear from her car. After carefully setting everything up, a temporary operating room was ready.

"Can we implant all of these biological components today?" Lin Mo, lying on the surgical bed, turned his head to look at Liu Ruoying, who was organizing the instruments.

"Well... implanting cybernetics can't be done in one go. According to your sister's request, we can only implant a small number of components today," Liu Ruoying answered without looking up.

She seemed quite professional while working.

"But aren't the other cybernetic clinics able to implant the components in a short time?" Lin Mo asked.

"Heh, do you think I'm one of those low-tier cybernetic doctors out there?" Liu Ruoying chuckled. "Fine, let me break it down for you. If you want a quick implant, it's possible, but your sister doesn't allow it. She insists on the best plan, so I have to go step by step."

"The best plan is to ensure that after the implants, you won't have any rejection reactions and you won't need to inject immunosuppressants."

"My current plan is to first implant polymer armor into your two arms, then reinforce key areas of your body, replace important bones with organic dense bones, transplant muscles, and finally inject the nano-medical robots."

"What do you think of this plan?" Liu Ruoying asked.

Lin Mo recalled the knowledge he had gained about cybernetics in this world and nodded in approval.

"Alright, after we complete this implantation, if there are no abnormalities in your body data over the next few days, I'll come back to implant the remaining parts," Liu Ruoying concluded.

Lin Mo nodded. He had no objections to the advice given by the professional.

"Well then... have a nice dream," Liu Ruoying smiled gently and injected the anesthetic into Lin Mo.

A wave of sleepiness hit him, and he fell into a deep sleep.

With the rapid development of cybernetic technology, even the most complicated surgeries could be completed by skilled cybernetic doctors in just a few hours.

When Lin Mo woke up, Liu Ruoying, who had been waiting by his side, was already at the desk, drinking a carbonated beverage and burping comfortably.

Afterward, she let out a long, satisfied burp, and her face flushed slightly.

Lin Mo got up from the surgical bed, examining his body but not noticing anything unusual.

It seemed like it had all been a dream—just a quick nap on the bed.

But when he pressed his finger on his skin, Lin Mo felt a hard sensation, as if there were a layer of hard cardboard beneath his skin.

"Subcutaneous nano long-chain polymer armor—this is currently the best subcutaneous organic armor on the market. The principle is that nano-robots are injected under your skin. These robots weave a long-chain polymer structure at specific locations, eventually forming protective subcutaneous armor," Liu Ruoying explained, noticing Lin Mo waking up and poking his skin.

She smiled and continued, "Compared to other types of subcutaneous armor, its sturdiness can't compare to carbon fiber or ceramic polymers, let alone top-tier heavy metal armor. But it has one major advantage: once injected, it lasts for life."

"If the armor is damaged, the nano-robots will continuously repair the damaged area. Also, the nano-medical robots will heal your injuries. Overall, you retain most of your human qualities while having a bit of that indestructible cockroach quality."

Lin Mo silently looked at her, his expression hardening in displeasure.

"I understand the theory, but why is your face so red?"

Liu Ruoying blinked and shyly avoided Lin Mo's gaze, her face growing even redder.

Though she had acted bold and carefree earlier, her shy, demure demeanor now added a touch of femininity to her, making her look as beautiful as a crimson peony.

"Actually... you can't blame me. It's surgery, after all. How can the body not be exposed? I really didn't look much, nor did I do anything inappropriate. I swear!"

Liu Ruoying's voice grew softer as she spoke, occasionally stealing glances at Lin Mo.

Big sister, do you really think I'll believe this?

Lin Mo's face darkened.

At that moment, the door to the temporary operating room opened, and harsh sunlight streamed in.

"Don't worry. I'm keeping an eye on her. She won't do anything inappropriate," Xu Wanshui said coldly as she walked over.

She was holding a thick coat and, under Liu Ruoying's regretful gaze, threw it over Lin Mo to cover his well-toned body.

She then turned her gaze to Liu Ruoying and said coldly, "Alright, your job's done. Go back to the company."

"Can't I stay for dinner?" Liu Ruoying grumbled unhappily.

Xu Wanshui snorted but didn't answer, the meaning clear.

At that moment, Lin Mo, who had been sitting nearby, suddenly stood up, putting on the coat and zipping it up as he spoke, "Sis, you can let her stay for dinner. I have some things to do, so I won't be here. You two don't need to argue."

Though they hadn't known each other long, Lin Mo could tell that Liu Ruoying and Xu Wanshui's relationship wasn't as bad as it seemed.

Otherwise, Liu Ruoying wouldn't have been acting so free around Xu Wanshui. Some jokes could only be said in front of people you were close with.

Xu Wanshui furrowed her brows, about to say something to keep her, but then she remembered their heart-to-heart conversation a few nights ago and swallowed her words.

"Safe travels," was all she said.

Lin Mo nodded, not wasting time, and ran out of the operating room.

Once Lin Mo had left the room, Liu Ruoying sighed and said thoughtfully, "Your brother, it seems, doesn't want to follow the usual path to greatness…"

"He told me his wish is to become a legend, a very typical young person's dream," she continued.

"Tsk tsk, youthful ambition, full of spirit, doesn't want to be the one holding the reins, but rather wants to be the bloodthirsty wolf?"

"No, it should be a lion," Xu Wanshui replied indifferently.

In her eyes, Lin Mo had always been like a gentleman in leisure, a refined scholar in calm times, but when angered, he was like a young general in silver armor, wielding a blade and charging forth with his cape flying.

No matter which path he chose, as his sister, all she could do now was support his dream.

Liu Ruoying, still unwilling to give up, looked at Xu Wanshui's cold face and tentatively asked, "Actually, I think I'm quite suitable to be a good wife and mother. I have the qualifications. Don't you want to consider giving me a chance?"

"Get lost!"

"Hey, do you think I'm too young? If it doesn't work, I can change myself!"

"Liu Ruoying! Do you really want to die?"
