Huh?
Even with Lin Mo's excellent mental resilience, facing the woman's soul-searching question, he couldn't help but be momentarily stunned, unable to keep up with her train of thought.
However, while he was still processing, Xu Wanxue, who was standing nearby, reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She quickly rushed over and kicked the woman, who was looking foolish, right in the chest.
"Ah!"
The woman was flung across the estate's lawn, crashing into the earth with a heavy thud.
Fortunately, the soft soil of the lawn broke her fall, or she would have been injured.
"Don't take her seriously, and don't believe her nonsense. She's always like this, completely out of tune," Xu Wanxue said, placing her hands on Lin Mo's shoulders and speaking seriously, as if she was advising her younger brother not to be deceived by bad women outside.
"No, I'm serious! A pure, untainted face like your brother's, in today's cold, emotionless, cybernetic society, is truly a gift from heaven!" Liu Ruoying struggled to get up from the ground, her face serious, with a bit of blood running from her nose, unsure if it was from a fall or excitement, as she looked at Lin Mo as if she were admiring a rare treasure.
Xu Wanxue didn't respond, instead giving her a cold look. A slight glimmer of blue light flashed in her eyes.
Immediately, the mansion's automated defense system was activated.
Hidden turrets, located in various corners of the house and lawn, slowly raised their barrels, their cold muzzles aimed at the woman, like a death sentence. Several Kanto Robotics automated defense robots in the warehouse were also activated. They slowly stepped out, their orange lights scanning the woman as they wielded Kanto's smart firearms.
"I surrender!" Liu Ruoying groaned shamelessly.
Xu Wanxue took a few deep breaths, clearly too lazy to continue dealing with the situation. She grabbed Lin Mo's hand and headed toward the unmanned transport vehicle that had been parked nearby.
Liu Ruoying looked around, realizing that while the defense system had been activated, it didn't seem like they considered her a threat. She let out a quiet sigh of relief, hesitated for a moment, and then followed Xu Wanxue.
Compared to other expensive, luxurious floating cars, the price of these unmanned transport vehicles, which also utilized anti-gravity technology, was much cheaper.
The drone was painted with the logo of Respect Logistics, indicating where it came from.
This was an international shipping company with operations across all major continents, known for its prestigious global transport services.
Xu Wanxue's eyes brightened slightly as she connected to the drone's internal network. After confirming the identity, the rear hatch of the drone slowly opened.
In front of Lin Mo, several storage containers, each utilizing low-temperature preservation technology, were neatly stacked, resembling a pirate's treasure hoard.
The perfectly arranged boxes would make anyone with obsessive-compulsive disorder feel inexplicably comfortable, and it made Lin Mo eager to see what treasure they contained.
"This pile of stuff cost over 1 million euros, almost the world's top biological implantation components. Per your request, these are all combat cyberware," Xu Wanxue said with a smile. "I couldn't be bothered to pick each one out when I was buying them, so I just got them all. Pick whichever you like, my dear brother."
Lin Mo walked over to the boxes, running his hand over the smooth metal surfaces, feeling the cold touch of the containers.
Each of these biological components was the result of the most advanced nanotechnology, biological synthesis technology, and other cutting-edge biological technologies.
Compared to regular implants, these were more fragile before being implanted into the body, requiring low-temperature storage.
Lin Mo tore off the list attached to one of the boxes, which detailed the purpose and usage of each biological component.
There was also a separate chip next to it, containing specific information about the biological components in front of him.
"Sis, do you think your brother is the Hulk? There's no way I can fit all of these into my body..." Lin Mo looked at the boxes with a sigh, feeling overwhelmed.
"It's fine. Just pick what you like, since they've already been bought," Xu Wanxue said indifferently.
Seemingly sensing something, Xu Wanxue's gaze turned cold as she suddenly turned and glared at Liu Ruoying, who was sneaking up behind them.
Liu Ruoying was standing behind them, staring at Lin Mo's back, lost in thought. But as soon as Xu Wanxue looked at her, she shivered.
She stiffly turned her head, locking eyes with Xu Wanxue, and slowly raised her hand, signaling "OK."
Xu Wanxue silently turned her gaze back to Lin Mo and said, "Pick out some of these components. That lady will help you implant them."
"Why does he call you 'sister' and me 'aunt'?" Liu Ruoying muttered under her breath in displeasure.
But neither of them paid attention to her.
Lin Mo picked up the separation chip and inserted it into his own chip slot.
A stream of information flashed before his eyes, each page detailing the parameters and functions of a biological component.
Lin Mo picked out several suitable biological components.
Organic Dense Skeleton, Synthetic Reinforced Transplanted Muscles, Latest Nanotech Medical Robots, and Subcutaneous Nano Long-Chain Polymer Armor.
"Are these okay?" Lin Mo asked, presenting his selection.
Xu Wanxue looked at Liu Ruoying.
"Don't worry, I'm professional. Your sister can vouch for me," Liu Ruoying said, patting her chest confidently.
Just as she finished speaking, she finally revealed the calm and serious demeanor of a professional, walking over to the cooling boxes and lifting the boxes Lin Mo had chosen.
She carried several boxes with ease, displaying a remarkable "superhuman strength" that made Lin Mo glance at her in surprise.
"I need to measure your body data—height, weight, and other basic parameters, as well as blood pressure and the like, to prepare the best implantation plan for you," Liu Ruoying continued.
"Also, these cybernetic components were customized based on your DNA information. There's almost no risk of rejection—99.99% accuracy. If you do experience any, remember to buy me a drink. It's not something that happens often."
Lin Mo froze. "How did you get my DNA information?"
"Your sister kindly provided it. You can ask her for the details," Liu Ruoying pointed to Xu Wanxue, who was standing off to the side, watching the scene.
Lin Mo turned to look at his sister.
"Are you worried about your privacy being exposed?" Xu Wanxue chuckled as she covered her mouth, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Did you think I wouldn't know about your little secrets? You've been holed up in your room so much. Don't think I can't figure out what you're up to."
Lin Mo's eyes widened. Even with his current Composure 5, he couldn't hold his expression. It was embarrassing, but his sister was openly talking about it.
After a moment of calm, Lin Mo thought to himself. He realized he hadn't done anything wrong.
After all, with Dream Technology in this world, who would waste time trying to generate power in a room?
Pfft!
Seeing Lin Mo's stunned expression, Xu Wanxue couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Don't worry. I just took one of your hairs. I'm your sister, so I wouldn't do something inappropriate. Besides, since I personally spoke with them, no one dares to keep your DNA information."
Liu Ruoying, who was listening, chimed in:
"Many powerful people are very protective of their DNA information. When it comes to custom services like this, they usually extract specific DNA regions... Well, let's just say there are measures in place for confidentiality."
The life of the wealthy... truly is different. Lin Mo couldn't help but feel a deep sense of awe.
For the people on the fringes of society, getting cybernetic implants didn't come with so many twists and turns. They'd just grab whatever was available and implant it, regardless of whether it was first-hand or not.
Even top-tier mercenaries wouldn't qualify for professional customization like this.
Lin Mo thought back to the main character V in the game and the other plot characters and sighed.
The people on the fringes of Night City often treated themselves as machines, installing and removing cybernetics freely, always facing the harsh realities of battle, constantly in danger of being hit by stray bullets...
No wonder cyber-psychosis existed.
